But Haloti Ngata broke out in what arguably should have been his first All Pro season at NT back in 2008 after Kelly Gregg was lost for the year. He then switched back to LDE and had a slightly down year, but made the PB (probably partly from the previous seasons clout). He then switched back to NT in 2013, which is the season Brandon Williams was a rookie and still acclimating to the NFL. What’s more beyond the NT position he’s obviously played RDE, LDE, and DT within our 34 defense. TBQH I felt Ngata was at his most dominant when he was allowed to play DT and NT, however because of his athleticism, he sacrificed some of his potential individual dominance so as for the betterment of the other defensive pieces. Hunter2_1
The discrepancy between a run D with Kris Jenkins in and without was hilarious. I remember the Jets having him and it transford their run D, but when they lost him to injury, it was like running through mist. No idea how to rank all the above. 🤷♂️
TecmoSuperJoe
Shout to Dan "Big Daddy" Wilkinson, Grady Jackson, Norman Hand, and Jerry Ball. Other great nose guards that were very difficult to run up against. Edited August 21, 2020 by TecmoSuperJoe
Turnobili
poe/rogers dont belong on this list tbh... Kris Jenkins definitely resonates. Jamal Williams and Vince Wilfork stand out against some of the more recent names like Hampton. Washington/Adams were good but not at the level of the guys above. While not really a nose... I loved Marcus Stroud too. He and John Henderson were lights out in Jacksonville, and then when Stroud left for Buffalo they instantly became great defensively and the Jaguars fell off a bit. Dontari Poe - Had the talent and ability but never consistently lived up to the talent and skill set he posesses. (Haloti Ngata was never a NT IIRC)
