NBA 2k18 Franchise - Now GM of the Pistons

Player/Team Options

SF VLado Tarlac (80) - $3.34 mil – he was my first draft pick with the Pistons and has developed into a good player.

C Grant Gray (72) - $2.03 mil – I like Gray better than Keith Mitchell.  I’ll probably let Mitchell leave in FA.

SG Zac Chase (72) - $1.73 mil – I picked him up in a mid-season trade, he’s a decent prospect.

Qualifying Offers

PG Wayne Davidson (81) – no offer – he’s a good young player but I want to give rookie PG Santiago his minutes.

PF Guy Cardinal (74) - $2.64 mil – He’s a decent stretch 4 prospect.

C Keith Mitchell (76) – no offer – I took Mitchell in my first draft class but he’s never developed how to rebound.  I can’t have a Center on the floor that can’t rebound.

SG Chucky Holland (69) - $2.72 mil – cheap backup worth keeping around another year.

PG AJ Quinn (78) – no offer – same as Davidson.

My Free Agents

PF Ed Hansen (80) – 2 year, $20 mil offer – I’d like to bring him back as a role player off the bench.  He could help me in the playoffs as a rebounder and defender.  I’m going to play him back at PF this season.

SG Brent Saunders (78) – no offer – Brent’s getting older and I’d like to give some of my younger prospects playing time.  Thanks for your service but its time to move on.

PF Donnie Carlisle (78) – no offer – time to move on from Carlisle too.

Free Agency

I have one spot available on the roster and would like to add a versatile young defender:

Signed PF/SF Toby Celment (72) – 2 years, $5 mil deal – he probably won’t see any minutes if I stay healthy, but if I’m hurting defensively he can defend multiple spots.

Major Contract Signings:

SG Boyd Overton – Heat – 5 years, $148.79 mil

PF Kevin Looney – Cavaliers – 5 years, $115.22 mil

SF Brandon Ingram – Lakers – 4 years, $117.58 mil

C Malik Flowers – Kings – 4 years, $128.48 mil (wow former backup for Bulls)

PG Alexi Gornev – Jazz – 4 years, $127.35 (another former Bull)

C Zach Collins – Clippers – 4 years, $91.89 mil

C Willie Elliot – Heat – 4 years, $103.75 mil

SG Dana Saunders – Hawks – 4 years, $111.97 mil (he’s one of the top 5 players in the league and the Hawks retained him at a reasonable deal)

SG Guy Hood – Mavericks – 5 years, $179.34 mil

C Georgios Papagiannis – Suns -  3 years, $79.40 mil

PG Brian Washburn – Trailblazers - 4 years, $101.45 mil

SF Otis Stafford – Trailblazers – 4 years, $119.29 mil

C Elton Castro – Knicks – 4 years, $83.70 mil

SF David McDaniels – Wizards – 3 years, $55.29 mil

C Harry Giles – Wizards – 4 years, $71.38 mil

PF John Collins – Nuggets – 3 years, $75.03 mil

PF Guerschon Yabusele – Magic – 3 years, $55.87 mil

PG Leo Smith – 76ers – 5 years - $208.41 mil (He’s one of the best player in the NBA and the 76ers retained him.  I thought he would leave)

SG Brent Saunders – Spurs -2 years, $8.96 mil (good luck to him)

PG AJ Quinn – Bulls – 2 years $12.60 mil (Bulls stole one from me finally)

PF Donnie Carlisle – Pelicans – 1 year, $1.97 mil

Opening Day Roster - Year 11

PF Guy Cardinal 74 B 26 1 $1.97
C Grant Gray 72 B+ 23 1 $2.03
C Jimmy Landry 69 A+ 23 4 $1.32

I have two new starters, and with Norberg coming over he gives me my best player on the roster.  He's an 85 OVR "rookie" with A+ potential on a cheap 4 year rookie deal. Its like I just landed a random #1 overall pick to my roster.  Meeks enters as my new starting Center.  I'm going to stick with Dunleavy as the starting 3 because he has higher potential than Tarlac, but I might reassess that when I start actually playing games in the playoffs.  Tarlac will be my 6th man and primary scorer with the 2nd unit.  Ed Hansen moves to the bench.

- the league's top players are getting old.  19 of the top 25 are 28+ in age.

- A few weak drafts in a row have hurt the high end talent in the league.  I have several 88 OVR players listed in the top 25 for the first time in awhile.

*Contract Extension*

SF Vlado Tarlac has signed a 4-year $40 mil extension to stay with the Pistons.  He's developed well and is a good contributor for me. At this price I can afford to keep him coming off the bench.

TRADE DEADLINE

*TRADE*

Boston Celtics Receive

PF Guy Cardinal (74)

2028 2nd Round Pick

Detroit Pistons Receive

2030 Celtics 1st Round Pick (top 3 protected)

C Byron Mann (66)

I moved Cardinal because he was complaining about wanting a contract extension and I don't think he's worth one. This gives me a future first, Mann is on an expiring contract.  Cardinal wasn't in my rotation so this doesn't impact me this year at all.

This is my deterrent from every playing this game mode. I would probably go in and edit all the players from that first draft class down in OVR and potential

So I just went through the whole thread and calculated my overall record as a GM.  I'm a dead even 451 Wins - 451 Losses right now lol.  That's for the regular season only.  My playoff record is 36 wins - 18 Losses.

Total Record = 487 Wins - 469 Losses
