2028 Off-Season - Denver Broncos

I have been officially announced as the Head Coach and GM of the Denver Broncos! This team honestly isn't terrible, it has some decent pieces and looks like it is heading in the right direction, but they're not my players. So we will be ripping it apart!

I don't even really know where to begin with this. I'm not going to post a depth chart until after the first draft because I am going to end up getting rid of a ton of these starters anyway, and building up my picks this year and next. I do have the 1st pick though, which is helpful.

Let's get to work.

2028 Scouting

I assumed I was going to lose all of my scouting when I changed teams, and I was correct. Thankfully I had tghe foresight to create my board on here so I could go back in on Madden and recreate it.

I did not, however, take a super close look at them before I moved it over, so I don't have star ratings for this draft.

I don't have every position scouted in detail, but I have most of them done. I don't really have any needs, because I need everything, but I definitely want to hit my priority positions.

2028 Team Needs

  • Everything
  • QB
  • LB
  • EDGE
  • WR
  • OL
  • CB

These are my main targets. I am not too converned about the running game yet, I need an OL first, unless there is some stud HB I can't pass on, and I didn't scout any of them in the first 4 rounds because why would I with Marcus Jennings.

There is a QB in this class, AJ Smith, who is the first 1st round talent QB in I think 3 drafts. I think I might have to pick him, but definitely not with #1.

I am going to waive my new rule for this year only (only 3 picks in the top 64, & can't trade for picks this year) and go with the 2 per round, and then adopt that for next year. I just have a bunch of players to trade, and will also be trading down from #1 almost certainly.

TRADE
BRONCOS RECEIVE EAGLES RECEIVE
- 2028 1.15 - - WR JERRY JEUDY 94 SS

Was this a mistake? Probably. Would be good to have a good WR if I draft a QB. But the Eagles love WRs so much in this league.

TRADE
BRONCOS RECEIVE PANTHERS RECEIVE
- 2028 3rd - - OLB BRADLEY CHUBB 87 SS

Another OG Bronco that has to go.

TRADE
BRONCOS RECEIVE PACKERS RECEIVE
- 2028 4th - - DE MARCUS SPIDELL 90 XF
- 2029 1st - - - - - -

Marcus Spidell was drafted as the 1st overall pick in 2022. He is entering the last year of his deal, and is the Broncos 2nd best player, and only X Factor. He didn't want to be a part of a rebuild, so we moved him to the NFC. We get a 1st next year and a 4th this year. This will probably screw me in terms of picks next year. I will still probably get a 1st rounder for moving down from 1.1, but I will just trade it after for a future 1st.

TRADE
BRONCOS RECEIVE CARDINALS RECEIVE
- 2028 3rd - - TE NOAH FANT 87 S

TRADE
BRONCOS RECEIVE GIANTS RECEIVE
- 2028 5th - - MLB AUSTIN CORBETT 80 N

That's enough for now I think.

This looks a little better. I will still get some more picks I think from moving down, but something to work with. 12 picks for now and likely 2/3 of them will start this year. With all of these trades, this team is baaaadddd

No trading with your old Falcons team?

Not yet. They are stacked enough, I don't want to give them more players.

I messed up and they have 3 1sts this year. Will be interested to see who they draft

I'm not sure if this is going to be a hard draft or not. I am starting fresh, so really should just be drafting BPA, but I really want to nail this one to start off quickly. I want players who have a chance to win awards, so QB and MLB are priorities.

I am running all of the same schemes as before.

I hols the first pick in this draft, but don't think I'll be picking 1st. There are some really good players up there, but I have a few players in mind with my 1st round picks and they are not early projections.

Let's get the first Broncos draft started!

Atlanta is actually offering me two 1sts this year and a 2nd next year. That is interesting lol not sure why they want to be picking 1st. IYou know what, rules be damned. I think that's awesome.

It wasn't! They took a safety! Why! They are already ruining my damn team lmao. SS Jimmy Sykes, 75 overall. Yikes.

That allows DE Donavan June to go #2 to the Panthers. He is 76 overall and looked like a STUD. That was the pick I thought the Falcons would make, but I guess I did have Sean Ford there to slot in at LOLB. Just seems like a huge mistake.

DT Spencer Woodson 3rd to the Jags. 76 overall.

CB Shonn Higgins 7th to the Bears, 76 overall. Good pick.

I'm up at 15. Here's the board.

Fairly large board. Man, I did NOT expect Spencer Bolden to still be there. The WR I wanted the most was Clayton, but he want a few picks ago. Bolden ran a 4.31 and was 2nd in agility drills. The issue with taking him is I am targeting QB AJ Smith and LB Rashad Jackson, and I am worried I won't get them at 20 and 26. There are two other LBs I like. But do I want to be taking a 23 year old WR and risk losing possible franchise cornerstones?

The answer is no.

This was the right call. At leats, I hope. Smith will have **** all to throw to, but he will start day 1. I have a kinda young 83 overall QB to move on from next year.

Okay, crap. Spencer Bolden is still there.... no shot he makes it to 26. I am just not confident at all that Rashad Jackson makes it. This is why I want Jackson.... he is a little undersized, but he is 1st at ROLB at 5 combine drills, and 4th at bench. 4.61 40 is good but not ground breaking, but he will be a high 80s speed. Now, Carl Flanagan ran a 4.44, so if I missed Jackson I could always go there, but right now I am thinking I will try to ghet both.

I really can't risk not getting one of my top 2 LBs though. They are both Early 2nd and that means they could go as early as 20.

2/2. Right call! He needs a bit of work but man, this is going pretty damn well so far! I hope one of these guys is above star, but even if not they hjave a good chance at progressing before their 2nd contract.

I pick again at 26. Yes, 3 1st rounders. I don't care. I have 1 2nd. Next year I will start the 3 picks in the top 64 with max 2 each round.
