I’m still not opposed to a 1st round WR if we trade back a few spots. Cooks, Nico and a 1st rounder would give us a solid WR room. Bring in a motivate Tunsil, maybe draft a RB in round 2 and perhaps another lineman in the 1st and we are really on solid footing.

Jameson Williams please

I prefer Treylon Burkes - mismatch nightmare with his size and speed, I see a Mike Evans type.

Williams was a guy who relied on quickness, and an ACL tear really slows that down. Sure, he’ll be able to play - but his killer quickness and ability to create space in his routes is going to be hampered.

I like Williams, but not enough to risk it in the top 15.

Rapaport says just under $20mm *per year* so it’s close to a $40mm extension.

Wow I totally misread the initial report. I still feel good about the extension because they have tons of cap space and this won’t limit them in doing anything they were going to use it for still.

It’s a very good deal, I’m very happy with it. Cooks doesn’t get the recognition of being a top 15-20 guy, he’s a steady contributor who thrives in all situations.

$36mm guaranteed - yeah, Cooks is a Texans’ player for the next three years with this sort of extension. The guaranteed money will make it near impossible to move him.

He rarely misses games and has hit over 1,000 yards receiving in 6 of his 8 seasons. He's the model of consistency, is a leader on the team, and a great locker room guy. It's not a long extension which I think works for both sides. I will say I hope this does preclude the Texans from taking a WR this draft. Doesn't have to be round 1, but I think we need to load Mills up with options.
