What we just did to Dede would have been exactly what I would have liked to see to start the drive. Has nothing to do with abandoning the run (because we wouldn't, we know how Doug and co. want to play, only way we do is if come 3rd quarter we do absolutely nothing and get no push inspiring zero confidence). We aren't going away from it in the 1st quarter with Blake behind center.

Have to establish that you're committed to running on first though. And you do that by...running on 1st early. That's what opens up things in the passing game on first down later, sucking everyone down because they're expecting run on first  because that's the rhythm you've set  

They obviously don't want to go away from the run. But it's happened. It can sneak up fast. Just a few throws on first down. Then you get a miss and you're behind schedule on down and distance and you're throwing and 2nd and 3rd. And suddenly it's halftime and you're just not really using the run to establish anything anymore.
