SG Resurgence

It's no secret that this has been the weakest position in the NBA in recent years. There was a clear void at the position following the decline in Kobe Bryant, Dwayne Wade and Manu Ginobili.

This year however seems to indicate that the SG position is back and as strong as its been in a long time. There are some questions as to who is a true SG and who is a PG. James Harden is the best SG in the league, unless you count him as a PG, which he was last year, but is he now that they have CP3? I am going to include him in the SG discussion.

looking around the league, here is what SGs are doing:

James Harden averaging 32/10/5
Bradley Beal averaging 23/4/5
Devin Booker averaging 23/4/4
Victor Oladipo averaging 23/4/5
Demar Derozan averaging 23/5/4
CJ McCollum averaging 22/3/4
Klay Thompson averaging 20/2/4
Eric Gordon averaging 20/3/2

Thats 8 SGs who are averaging over 20 points per game.

This list doesnt include several guys that are really solid too
Lou Williams
Tyreke Evans
Rodney Hood

It also doesnt include some guys who are rally good defenders like:

Jimmy Butler
Andre Roberson
Avery Bradley
Gary Harris

The position seems to be as strong as its ever been, and most of the players are still in their 20s, with a lot being under 25.

Jrue is playing primarily SG now too right? He's been pretty good with Rondo.

Yeah, SG is his natural position and he's been playing really well since we got Rondo back. E'Twaun Moore is also having a really solid year as the former starting SG, now backup.Averaging 11.6/2.5/2/1.1 on 51% shooting and 39% from 3.
