Raleigh

OFFENSE

Base formation: 2WR, 2RB, 1 TE

Run/Pass Ratio: 55% run 45% pass

3rd and Long formation and substitutions: Augmented Atwell subs in for Parham. Mitchell, Renfrow or Fant come in depending on matchups

Short Yardage Formation and substitutions: 12 personnel, Hunt subs in for Mitchell

Redzone Formation and Substitutions: 21 personnel. Hunt more snaps as we get closer to the red zone over Mitchell

Offensive Focus Players: Christian McCaffrey, Courtland Sutton, Keaton Mitchell

Run Game Philosophy: stretch the edges with speedy running backs and a running QB on read options. Soften up the middle by making defenders read. Hit explosives in the run game

Pass Game Philosophy:
Heavy play action and RPO to open up space for our weapons in the pass game. Make them respect and fear the run. Either McCaffrey and/or Mitchell can be split out at any point to also create mismatches in space. Use their explosiveness in the screen game to slow down pass rush. Target Sutton and Diontae downfield off play action when the over commit to the run.

Additional Information:

Blue doesn’t think Mailata is good and he should be allowed to vote on games

DEFENSE:

Base formation and coverage: 4-2-5; cover 4/Cover 3

Pressure Rate: pressure from the middle. Rush to contain on the outside

3rd and Long formation and substitutions: 4-1-6; Replace Quay Walker with Troy Hill Sub Brandon Graham at DT for Alim McNeill

Short Yardage Formation and substitutions:5-2-4. Sub in BJ Hil for a DB

Redzone Formation and Substitutions: 5-2-4. Sub in Jermaine Johnson for a DB to play a pressure off ball backer

Focus Players to Stop: Patrick Mahomes, Chris Olave, Rhomondre Stevenson

Run Game Philosophy: make runs bounce to the outside where LB’s and Budda can rally and tackle

Pass Game Philosophy:
Extra attention to Olave as much as possible. Press bail to take away quick reads and make Mahomes rely on off script plays all day

Additional Information: Very heavy d-line rotation to be able to keep attacking and not get them worn out by the end of the game

Offense: Given the state of the Raleigh cornerback group, we plan on running a lot of play-action with six-man protection this week. Tunsil is left on an island, with Ryan Kelly either helping Seumalo vs. Jalen Carter or handling Carter on his own when McNeil is lined up against Seumalo. When Kelly is on an island with Carter, Zion will give inside help to Broderick Jones; otherwise, Jones will get outside help from either a back or the tight end. If Johnson is helping Jones inside, the tight end or back will stay in to block any blitzers. With this being a home game for us, we’ll utilize a lot of hurry-up or no huddle when Hunter/Sweat/Carter rotate off the field to prevent defensive substitutions and keep an up-tempo pace on offense to wear down the secondary.

In the pass game, we want to run a lot of quick curls/comebacks, slants, and sluggo routes with the outside receivers to get the ball out quickly. In the slot, Olave will run a lot of post, corner, and go routes to take advantage of the weak Raleigh slot position and force the safeties off the line of scrimmage. Tight end will run shallow slants and curls across the middle when they aren’t blocking, usually as a third option in the pass game, with the running back running flat and wheel routes when he isn’t blocking. We aren’t trying to hit any big plays to the tight end or running back, only looking to target them in short yardage situations or when both Olave and Brown are covered downfield. At X receiver, we want to rotate Brown and Gesicki regularly while Moore and Wicks do the same at Z, occasionally playing Brown off the LoS at Z receiver to give Raleigh a variety of skillsets to worry about there and keep the defensive back from getting his hands on him.

For the run game, we want to run trap and counter plays, then mix in a handful of toss plays to Rhamondre Stevenson outside the offensive tackles, counting on him getting into space against the linebackers and either make them miss or run them over. We also want to give Devin Singletary, who has been on fire the last few weeks, enough carries to keep a fresh set of legs out there. However, we do want a 60-40 pass-run ratio with just enough of a rushing threat to force the defense to respect play-action, using the pass to set up the run. By spreading the defense out, we want to force the safeties to play sides and open up the middle of the field for Olave’s deep routes, or else force the defense to play a safety over the top and leave us one-on-one coverage with Noah Brown, who has also been torching defenses down the stretch.

Defense: This week we get a Raleigh squad led by…Bryce Young. The only guy that does scare us as a skill player is CMC, so the majority of our gameplan will revolve around stopping him in the run and pass departments.

We will be keeping an eighth man in the box until they prove they can throw the ball. On the off chance we get Kyler, we will adjust and send some extravagant pressure and personnel packages to make him get rid of the ball early and confuse him.

With Bryce, we believe we can line up, play gap sound football, and get off the field on third and long situations, while matching personnel if they use a 2 back and/or 2 TE sub package.

Byard will be used as a box roamer, used heavily vs CMC and/or their TE depending upon personnel.

Aside from that, we will utilize mostly Cover 3/4 concepts alternating 1 and 2 high safety looks.

On third and long, we will be using a lot of fake pressures to confuse Young and then bailing and sending DL stunts. if Bryce gets into a rhythm (I also laughed here), then we will go to some overload zone blitz pressures away from Jordan M, as we anticipate him to be highly motivated going against Blue this week, who will be heavily protected with an on field security escort.

We are going to eliminate cheap scores and force Young to have sustained drives and execute on third down, which frankly he hasn’t shown the ability to do.

Another instance of 2RB sets. Look I think Raleigh roster is talented, and Cancun prepping for Bryce didn't help. But at home, against a meme offense and with Mahomes at the helm, yeah Cancun is winning that one. 20-10
