Referee Crew

If a referee crew has a bad history of poorly officiating a specific team games why could the NFL continue to assign that crew to ref that team games?

The referee crew that was assigned the Rams v Lions game was the same crew that did the Rams v Seahawks Week 18 game last season that was poorly officiated. It was the same referee crew that officiated the Steelers v Rams game earlier this season that had two poor calls at the end. Mainly the bad spot of the ball. Now of course in the biggest of games the playoffs the same crew blunders at the end.

The NFL set themselves up to fail even before kickoff and they wonder why players and coaches criticize bad officiating. What can be done to fix this?

For good or bad, the NFLRA's responsibility is to is employees rather than to the quality of product on the field. It's much worse and more obvious in baseball tbh.

Baseball is comical. The NFL can take some basic steps to improve officiating and there have been bad calls this year but its not that different from other major sports where officials are under such scrutiny that mistakes are identified so quickly and without fail.

Not too familiar with baseball, but it’s getting real bad in the NBA. NFL officiating seems amazing in comparison.

Baseball is so bad that players like Bryce Harper literally goes off on them. And the crazy thing is it feels like some of those umps be trying to show up some of the players.

As a fan I just want consistency. The league know each crew and how theyve done when they refs certain teams games. The Rams last three games with Craig Wrolstad's crew all were surrounded by poor officiating. The Steelers game earlier this season, Week 18 against the Seahawks that the NFL admitted was poorly officated and it cost the Lions a playoff spot last season, and now this season in the playoffs against the Lions with that bad call at the end and some bad calls before that. So why does the NFL go through with putting Craig Wrolstad's crew to ref a Rams game knowing the history of poor officiating their games?

And Im sure other teams can say that about certain ref crew as well and the history. NFL has to do right by situations like this bc history keeps repeating itself and its embarrassing for McVay to stand at the podium again with the same ref crew getting asked about certain calls that hurt his team by the refs.

That is true. Its the worse consistency. Someone need to tell the refs to just set the tone early in the game and stick to it for better or for worse. At least I can be ok knowing thats how they was calling the game from the start. Dont call a DPI or holding in the 1st half and not call it in the 2nd half.
