Pastor Dillon
Night 1 went well but it’s possible that Newton, Jean, Cooper, Kool-Aid, Fiske are all gone and we are looking at smith, Wilson, or Jenkins. honestly we need a DT, LB, and CB I wouldn’t be opposed to trading a 3rd and 4th to move back into the 2nd and picking up 3 2nds to add to our defense. but we probably go with a TE and an offensive lineman in the 2nd. Texansfan713
The yearly Lance Zierlein day 2 mock. https://www.nfl.com/news/2024-nfl-draft-day-2-mock-bills-open-round-2-with-wr-adonai-mitchell-giants-nab-rb-jonathon-brooks #42: CB Mike Sainristill Quote Sainristil fits the mentality that DeMeco Ryans values on the defensive side of the ball with his aggression in run support and his competitiveness in coverage. #59: DT Michael Hall Quote Hall is one of the most explosive interior rushers in the draft but is undersized so he may make his living as a rusher in subpackages. #86: S Calen Bullock Edited April 26 by Texansfan713
Texansfan713
What is realistic value if we were to move up to say pick 34-35? Pick 42 and one of our 4th rounders?
lumberjackchris
The Cowboys got a 3rd albeit an overpay to move down like 6 spots. So I'd assume a 42+3rd or 42+4th and 5th

Pick 35 is only 70 points more than pick 42 and our 3rd round pick is worth 160. So if we were going to trade with Arizona and keep it even on the trade chart, this trade works: Texans trade 42 & 86 Arizona Trades 35 & 104 Arizona comes out ahead 6 points, which is basically a 6th round comp pick. no way we trade 42 and 86 for 35 straight up.
Pastor Dillon
I know you dont draft for need per say, but we have some gapping needs. I really think LB is a big one. we only have 3 guys, so at some point in the draft we have to take one. Saftey is another spot. We only have 2 legit safety options. so again at some point we have to take one. We need starters at DT, and probably a starter at CB.....but we have bodies there to compete at both of those positions. Safety is probably our number 1 need to have a 3rd guy. We have to address it in our first 5 picks.
Texansfan713
CB is our number 1 need. We do not have anyone currently to start with Stingley. A number 2 CB is far more important than a 3rd safety. Plus safety doesnt hold high value in the draft like it used to do.

I saw this on the Houston Chronicle's article. Quote According to the Jimmy Johnson draft value chart, a fair trade with the Patriots, and this is just a fair trade, would be the Patriots’ 34th pick for the Texans’ 42nd and their two fourth-round picks (Nos. 123 and 127). A fair trade with the Cardinals would be the Cardinals’ 35th pick for the Texans’ 42nd, 123rd (fourth round), and 188th (sixth round). A fair trade with the Commanders would be the Commanders’ 36th pick, for the Texans 42nd, 127th (fourth round), and 189th (sixth round). A fair trade with the Chargers would be their 37th pick, for the Texans’ 42nd and 123rd. Edited April 26 by Texansfan713
