Meet Our 1st Rounder - OG/C Graham Barton

Recommended Posts

Really like this pick. He was one of the top recruits coming out of high school in his circuit. Apparently an all-world lacrosse players as well. For his size (6'5/313), he's extremely athletic, which is exactly what new OC Liam Coen wants from his lineman, as he asks them to get out in space to make tough blocks:

Quote

had a strong showing at the Blue Devils’ Pro Day, where he ran a 4.97-second 40-yard dash (which would’ve ranked top five among offensive linemen at the Combine) and a 7.31-second three-cone drill (which would’ve tied him for third at the Combine).

Barton’s athleticism is clear, and it’s backed up by his perfect 10.00 RAS Score — the best score out of 619 centers from 1987 through 2024.

He's played C, OG and LT at Duke. We announced him as a center and Licht said plan at this time is for him to be there, but that could change depending on what we do today/tomorrow. Has drawn some good comparisons:

The Blue Devils star is capable in both pass protection and in the run game, and has drawn some comparisons to former Bucs Pro Bowl guard Ali Marpet for his athleticism, toughness, football I.Q. and physicality.

Here is a scouting report on him:

Love it. Think he will be a pro bowl/all pro type player. Wirfs and Barton will be anchoring the unit the next 10 years.

Will help us with our ground game immediately. No major injury history and plenty of experience, not sure what more you could ask for.

Yep, the consensus around the draft circle/media pundits last night was the same. He's a plug/play guy at basically any spot on the O-line. If you play him at OT, he's servicable, if you play him at gaurd, he'll be more than capable, if you play him at C they all thought he's all pro level.

Great pick. Honestly the way the pre-draft process was trending - thought he was going to be a Dolphin, Cowboy, Eagle, or even Steeler.

In a way - kinda shocked he was here for us to take.

Think he'll be an absolute mauler at Guard or Center for us. Happy to have made this pick.
