That is a good question.  He is 60, and probably has made some pretty good money, he may not want to do it again.  If he wants to stay in the league, he has to have a great track record for being an OC.  He is in part responsible for Aaron Rodgers and Dak Prescott, and has worked with Joe Montana and Brett Favre.  He is either incredibly fortunate or has some idea of what he is doing with QBs. Might not be a bad idea for who ever ends up getting Arch Manning to bring in McCarthy as some kind of consultant for a year or two.

I agree, I just feel like a lot of the narrative around him was he was made by Rodgers. However, I remember when he had his QB school, and we all can't forget that 2007 year with Favre. I just feel like he doesn't get some of the credit he deserves.

That Favre season was great.  No doubt in my mind that they score more points that season if Sherman was still there, but they also don't win 13 games.  Whatever McCarthy did got Favre to stop a lot of his bad habits helped the team a ton.  Favre probably doesn't have a mostly good season with the Jets or his great season in Minnesota without the re-focus.

What have the Jets ever done? I think the fireman guy is a ******, but they have mostly sucked my entire life, I just don't care about them at all.

I guess it's true enough that most GB fans probably never cared one way or the other about the Jets.  They've just always been one of the teams I've never liked.  Probably simply because they are a NY team.  I don't like any teams from NY out of principle.  NY fans in general are all *** hats in my experience.

Fair perspective.  I really hate Boston fans.  I don't even have any rooting interest in any of their rivals, but I find them completely obnoxious.  Part of me also instinctively cheers against LA too, again, no real reason for this.
