It’s an awful trade, obviously, but Ted created this problem by choosing not to trade Beal when it was blatantly time to do so, which forced them to give him that terrible contract — which irretrievably tanked his trade value.

Let the tanks roll in. Two years late.

Long term it will get us multiple top 5 picks bc we’re tanking.

It’s not, we’re tanking. We will have a top 5 pick next year & maybe in 2024 & 2025 also & then hopefully we can become a contender with those young guys we draft the next 3 years.

Tanking means trading your players off for first round picks and something of value. Dawkins literally got taken behind the woodshed on this. And then he threw in Goodwin as well lol. This is an all-time awful trade. Watching people excuse away what they got in return because of his contract is absurd. I’m actually shocked the suns didn’t get this dummy to somehow throw in the 8th pick

The Wizards front office had no leverage, they were trading the worst contract in sports & Beal had a no trade clause so he controlled wherever he went. Also, the Suns don’t have a first round pick for the next 7 drafts bc of the trade to get KD. Beal wanted to go there, he had a no trade clause & we got Paul, Shamet, 2nd round picks and a pick swap.

I have heard that there could be a 3rd team still aka someone who wants Chris Paul. So maybe we ship Chris Paul & Gafford off to Miami & that nets us their 18th pick or Nikola Jovik they’re young SF/PF who looks like a good stretch 4 prospect.

They just added Isiah Todd to the trade as well lol. This is an embarrassingly bad trade.

Maybe that’s getting us back 2nd round picks or a 3rd team is getting involved bc they want Chris Paul. The deal is not finalized & our current FO has absolutely zero connection to these young inconsistent 2nd round picks & udfa’s they're throwing in. The guys they're trading might not even make the team this year bc they can now add better depth bc they won't be paying $60 mil to 2 players.

Btw, Beal is the only player in the NBA with a no trade clause, and was the only player awarded one in the past 4 years.  All time terrible contract.

There are a lot of players who never had one including many Hall of Famers for ex. Jordan & Lebron. The contract Ted agreed to for Beal is arguably the worst in sports history. It's Haynesworth status. At least w/ Bagnesworth though the C’s could trade him at any time to whoever they wanted.
