patriotsheatyan
Obviously in specific situations it is, but teams seem to throw away a down to save ~4 seconds too often. Teams usually run out of downs before they run out of time. Today for instance, the Panthers had time left while struggling to move it all game but threw away a down on their final series. Thoughts? MKnight82
If you have a veteran QB, I would say no. Young QB you need to have time to get a play call in.
Asciimo
why not plan on having an emergency goto play when you would normally spike?
Destructo Spin
It's worth it for teams that don't have an offense refined and practiced enough to get a play in and the right personnel on the field in just a few seconds. There are a few teams in the league that can pull it off without needing to stop the clock but generally those teams have smart veteran QBs and collective years of experience on the field, and a head coach who knows time management. BayRaider
As you said, absolutely depends on situation.
