There’s no point in winning this game honestly. Knowing what we know about risking permanent damage, if he can’t go tonight why would he be able to play next week? We have to move on.

There is a point.... To win the damn game. To finally beat Luck and get into the playoffs.

We’re not going anywhere with Gabbert lol. With Marcus there’s atleast a sliver of hope in the playoffs.

So basically he should never play the game again. Find a new QB. Tired of this ****

Mariota was literally clapping normally in the locker room after the game looking just fine, had 3 days of practice, and a week to rest .... this pisses me off.

I’m more so just bummed tbh...I was really excited but this news just kinda let the air out of the balloon for me. We’ll see if the report is actually true once the game kicks off. That’s my only hope left.

Let’s be honest, we weren’t going anywhere with Mariota....Getting to the playoffs is still the goal though and if it comes on a Gabbert win and finally beating Luck, I want it.

I'm assuming it must have been something he was told in the last 24 hours or so, cause why would they have had him practicing if the issue was this large?

Exactly, great point. It must be that he slept weird on his neck/arm last night...gahhh... My view of Mariota will forever be affected in a negative way if he does not play this game tonight. I could see a decent percentage of the fan base changing their view of him for the worse. Even if the injury is not “his fault”, missing this game is going to look really bad for him.

I'm just dumbfounded as to how this could be the case with his injury yet we were still letting him go practice. Surely the team medical staff isn't that careless?

And if this is the case and they for whatever reason weren't concerned about hurting it further in practice, why even have him take reps from Gabbert?

Kuharsky added this bit of info to his article which is confusing

I have not been able to confirm the report but was told the team is still working with doctors and couldn’t yet say if Mariota would play. A second person said the team will work Mariota out today.

Even so, I have no cause not to believe the reporting of Mortensen.

I get the disappointment... But to try to compare Mariota playing in a live game to him throwing a pass in no intact drills or clapping (freaking clapping, are you kidding me?! Lol) is ridiculous.

The Titans were worried enough to contact an independent specialist, and their concern is the future. They obviously still see Mariota in the plans for at least the next year or 2, and aren't willing to sacrifice that for one game, no matter the game.

It still brings the question as to why you're having him take reps from Gabbert. Unless it's just trying to mess with the Colts head, which I mean is whatever I guess, not sure how much of an advantage that really gives.

There's also the weird idea that damage to the nerve today could cause long term damage to Mariota, but he might be good to go in the playoffs. I'm not a doctor but it feels weird to me that 6 or 7 extra days of rest would take this from a "he might not be able to throw long term if it gets hurt again" to "oh he's fine to play now".

Whole situation is just weird.
