BDL Discussion Thread 2019

md4l originally asked for the dolphins 4/7/2011 at 7:20 PM.  But then backed out and officially took over when I posted.

PR took over the Carolina-Chicago pairing on April 12, 2011 at 2:53 pm.

SirA was first though.

SirA - PR - Rags - pheltz - md4l is the order of the first 5.

So i had an interesting idea but im not gonna do it if there isnt enough involvement.

I was thinking about coming up with interview questions for each owner and sending each of them a pm, basically conducting pre-draft and pre-fa as well as eventually preseason interviews then posting them. (Maybe we should have a news room thread lol)

I'm sure it'd be funny at least

I campaigned for something like this before. Love the concept.

Care to share what the trade was for Wilson? Do I need to look it up? Maybe I don't want to see it.

OK ladies....third time's a charm right?

The deal:

Compton trades:
2.1 (#17 overall)
Jason Verrett
2019 3rd

Orlando Trades:
Russell Wilson

Comparables:
Dak (and Shaq Lawson)  for a Future 1st and a 3rd
Garapolo and a 6th  for a future 1st, a 4th, and Tyler Lockett
Brees went for a late 2nd and 3 cap dumps
Brady went for a late 2nd, a future 4th, and like 4 cap dumps

Thought process. After failing the first couple times with trades featuring mid round picks we went back to the drawing board. After taking SirA's "two IRL firsts" under advisement (translation: two picks in the top 32) I took a look at all QB trades available to me. When using the common rule of thumb that future picks count as a round less in the current year (aka a future first is equivalent to a second round pick this year) the going rate for top QBs in the BDL seems to be a 2nd rounder plus, depending on the QB. There were really two "types" of trades, first was an elite QB on an expiring deal (Brady, Brees) Those players fetched a late second round pick and both deals featured 3+ cap dump players. The second type of deal was for that of a young talented QB, still on a cheap/rookie deal. These deals garnered a future first and a mid round considerations but did not come with the cap implications of the other trades. Wilson is somewhat unique from these two types of trades as he is both elite but also comes with a heavy contract. All of this information considered we decided to lead the deal with the best pick of the 4 comparable trades at pick 2.1. To make it even or better than the Garappolo and Dak trades we also included the future 3rd rounder. Also in light of the Brady and Brees trades we included one "cap dump" player, not multiple. This was done not to add player value but to make the large contract more tolerable. At the end of the day we did not meet SirA's request of "two IRL firsts" or two top 32 picks and the reason we didn't do that is because the market didn't call for such a high price tag. That said Footy will come out of this deal with pick #17 and a top 45 pick next year. Thanks for your consideration.

Dak Prescott might have three playoff appearances in three years if Zeke’s situation didn’t put a shadow over their season. He’s not elite but he’s an asset for the Dallas’s Cowboys.
