Round 1 Pick 23: OT Tytus Howard

Normally around this time I would start to warm up to the pick (aka like when we picked Kevin Johnson) but I'm still pissed and I don't know how anyone can defend this being a good pick by Gaine.  It's not Howard's fault he was selected round 1.  It's Gaine's and O'Brien's.  If Dillard ends up being a stud for the Eagles I'm going to lose it.

talking to someone on reddit who thinks this would have been a top 10 pick if he went to a major school. Pat likes it too. I think I would have liked Greedy personally but if he can play he can play, so we'll find out what kind of player he is soon enough.

Pat Starr?  Yeah he is a Texans homer so I'm not surprised.

he actually called the pick i think (judging by his tweets yesterday). Also gave us this from his draft notebook

edit: that said, I think he gave way too much praise to our OL last year

I'm starting to believe that Howard wouldn't be there at #54/55, but I do believe that trading down 3-4 spots would have been more prudent.

To be fair, if people had Howard rated late first like everyone is saying now, why risk losing him?

Some pretty good stuff coming out of rookie minicamp with Howard - very quick on his feet, which is probably the most important thing you need as an NFL LT, quick feet.

We'll see how it goes when the pads come on.

These guys also claimed that Fitzgerald, Hoyer, Mallet, and Savage were amazing

Seth Payne and Paul Gallant on 610 were praising Fitz, Hoyer, Mallet and Savage? Hmm, that's news to me...

Gallant has never been shy on bashing anything Texans related, and neither has Payne. So they're not just blowing smoke when they make these comments.
