brooks1957
Here is one to keep your eye on. Sound like it is mostly for cap reasons, but it looks like the Packers' will be moving on from OG Lane Taylor in favor of 2019 draftee Elgton Jenkins - and thereby saving themselves $2.75M in cap space. Well, duh - here is the obvious connection. Former Packer executives are in our current front office who probably played a role in getting him to Green Bay in the first place. But probably of more intimate importance, his former OL coach in Green Bay is now on the North Coast. And one of his former line mates, C J.C. Tretter is now here. Lane is still on the right side of 30, and has logged three consecutive solid years. All that being taken into consideration - do we make a play for him either via trade or wait for his seemingly inevitable release. The Packers need help at ILB. Offer Kirksey? I would recommend waiting until he is released - then try to negotiate a new contract. https://www.rotoworld.com/football/nfl/player/7780/lane-taylor https://www.espn.com/blog/green-bay-packers/post/_/id/47571/packers-53-man-roster-projection-still-looking-for-linebackers Edited August 29, 2019 by brooks1957

pnies20
They are currently trying to gauge interest by leaking that he’s going to be cut. Supposedly Dorsey has already been in contact. I’d be okay with trading a late round pick for him. He’s better than kalis and Corbett for sure.

dawgdish
I'm sure we have plenty of intel on the Packers FO intentions, so we can afford to wait and play this one to our advantage. It would be a nice pickup.
brooks1957
Well, then again - we just traded for Wyatt Teller.
brooks1957
Just saw Christian Westerman's name on the Bengals' list of released players. I see that he was away from the team this summer, and that is what dropped him down their depth charts. It is also a major red flag about Christian possibly considering retirement. But if his time away has reenergized him to reconnect with football - it certainly would be worth the price of a phone call to gauge his level of interest. No trade required. https://www.rotoworld.com/football/nfl/player/1530/christian-westerman
