They had one of the Badger beat reporters on the radio today and he said they love Scott Nelson and he's got a chance to be the other safety. So take that for what it's worth.

Other than that yours looks pretty accurate. Said Cruikshank has been seeing a lot of work in the offense and on ST too as a returner. Would be exciting to have a gadget guy and excellent returner.

Edit: I have absolutely no idea why it quoted your other post too haha.

Excellent. I'll update the OP.

Jake Ferguson is going to be so damn good, man. If Hornibrook doesn't #Hornibrook, we're going to have a crazy damn good offense finally. The OL is finally meshing and the talent is coming through the cracks, we have a generational RB, a dynamic group of young WRs that will only get better with experience and the depth we've got at the position (crazy, right?). TE is going to be reliant on Ferguson but he's a special talent IMO. He'll beat out Penniston for the #1 spot during the season, if not spring.

We just need Hornibrook to not hold us back. He avoids the boneheaded plays that plagued him last year and we're golden. Man, I wish Mertz was here already. Sucks but we already know that Hornibrook is our starter the next 2 seasons because #Chryst but if he struggles, I want to see what Coan has considering we know we won't play Chase Wolf.

If Chryst wasn't a Patriots-esque nutcase about keeping stuff from the media, there would be a lot more hype surrounding this team.

We'd also have a much better idea of what the depth chart looks like, but PC constantly rotates around instead of having a real dedicated set of 1s and 2s. You've got a really nice list in general, and here are my thoughts (depth chart and otherwise).

  • At least for now, I'm on team Hornibrook. He was the reason we beat Michigan. He was instrumental in us making the Ohio State game close. He was huge in the Miami game. Those are 3 top tier defenses and he played great. I'm choosing to believe that the game slowed down for him and he'll be a very solid QB for us next year. Maybe I'm wrong.
  • We have a ton of underclassmen who are going to be really good. You may as well bump Bryson Williams to that 2nd NG spot. Taj Mustapha would be getting tons of hype any other year, but he's going to be buried on a really good WR depth chart. Kayden Lyles is better than Deitzen or Kapoi at the same age, but we aren't talking about him because we've got 2 bookend tackles for the future and can only play one of them. I haven't mentioned Loudermilk yet. Nor IGM - he's had flashes in spring practice and considering his length/athleticism, we'd be all over that any other year.
  • You may want to break the TE position into 2 spots. I think Ferguson is going to be the receiving TE specialist, and Nueville is going to see a ton of time as the blocking TE. I don't think Penniston is going to play much. He can't block and Ferguson is the better weapon. My only question is if we are going to run sets where Kasl comes in as an extra blocking TE and we also have Nueville in. I bet that happens at least once this year, unless Luke Benzschawel (who I'd have as the backup blocking TE) improves.
  • Faion Hicks is gonna play in that secondary somewhere IMO.
  • Emmett Perry is getting forgotten, but he's good too. Would put him over Krumholz/Green and agree that Cruickshank needs to be listed.
  • I'd go with Garrett Groshek over Taiwan Deal for the last RB spot. Chryst rewards walk ons who play well, and Deal...yeah I just don't see it. tbh I kind of expected him to transfer.
  • At DE, I think Aaron Vopal will get some reps. Would put him in the mix with the backups. Another freshman we'd be talking about a lot more if there weren't 15 other dudes.

I think this is the most talented Badger team top to bottom we've had since the JJ Watt years, and is poised for a huge run up through 2021. Really, really pumped about the talent and depth that PC has brought in.

And @ramssuperbowl99 I really hope you're right about Hornibrook. Really hope he took that next step finally. If he does, we're looking 12-0 right in the face again and a chance to actually win the B1G Championship Game and lock in a top spot in the CFP. No question we get in with our schedule this year.

Yeah man we'll see. Biggest questions are him and the secondary.

I think the depth chart looks about as good as we could guess right now. PC makes projecting anything difficult.

Love Wolf already...

Quote

Wolf said Ohio State quarterbacks coach Ryan Day visited the school, as did coach Urban Meyer, who tried to convince him to change his mind. Meyer’s first coaching job was as a defensive backs coach at St. Xavier in 1985.

“He just talked to me saying, ‘So, we’re going to be able to flip you, right?’ ” Wolf recalled. “I’m like, ‘No, no. We’ll see you in the Big Ten championship.’ ”

Everything I've read says that Jack Coan was really good in spring practice. So, if we get bad Hornibrook, there's at least hope. Also, yeah, Aron Cruickshank is going to get a lot of burn this year IMO. He's electric. He'll be our return man and THE guy on the jet sweep. Our offense is going to be...
