Well my guess is that Current Kirksey will be better than peak Wilson. Didn't see enough Takitaki to project what he will be, probably a little out of control though. Wilson just won't ever be able to move well enough to be a good tackler, not his fault he just has the wrong body type to be a LB. Unless he had Derrick Brooks ability of course, which he doesn't. Good nickel LB though. 57 minutes ago, LETSGOBROWNIES said: In defense of the players, when you’re in zone and not near the guy with the ball, it’s tough to tackle some of these guys. Well not being in position is part of it but even when we squared up ball carriers we struggled. We let the offensive player be the aggressor and while they may be okay when you are playing it safe with a lead it isn't a good idea in any other situation. You can't let the offense intimidate you you have to intimidate the offense by hitting hard and making clean tackles. We didn't do much of that but hopefully that can be implemented the the returning guys who lacked it.

He and Schobert really started to get run over by the end of the year.
LETSGOBROWNIES
To be fair, Mack is still just 21. He could develop a lot over the next 3-4 years.

I think if we had some animals on the d-line keeping him clean he would show up in the run game more as well.

Agreed, he needs to be able to run and chase, he’s not a thumper by any means.
Rod Johnson
I'd say terrible depth. Safeties: Wilks likes using 3 of them, came into the season already bad, and got decimated by injury. Burnett, average at best, but got hurt. Murray spent a lot of the season hurt. Whitehead sucks, got hurt, and was a bonehead. Then you're relying on street FA's to sub in for guys who already weren't good. And Redwine, who is a late round rookie who probably has a ceiling of an average player but isn't there. LB: Kirksey predictably hurt. Start 2 guys who offer little in run support. Takitaki not ready. DT: Running 2 guys there into the ground with a roster bubble guys behind them. DE: Garrett suspended, Vernon battling injuries. Nobody behind them. CB: Actually decent depth with Mitchell but after Ward you have a rookie and a pure nickel in Carrie. Myles Garrett suspension was like the Titanic hitting the iceberg. He covered for a lot of deficiency by constantly applying pressure. Once that was gone it was apparent we were playing guys who didn't belong on the field.

Sure, techniques and intelligence will improve but it is an instinctive position and he is probably at his physical peak. He can be useful he just isn't ever going to be an average run defender imo. He is good in coverage and can be a good pass rusher probably but his best fit would likely be in a 3-4.
