The hug fests aren't entertaining and they aren't a great display of skill a lot of the time. Then you get that decision. Exerting all of your energy to hold a fighter up against the cage and then immediately taking damage and losing actual exchanges isn't something that should win a fighter rounds. Bautista was exerting energy to simply not get beat up, and still took more damage. The UFC needs to start penalizing fighters who do this stuff. It's prize fighting and fans pay to watch the product. Fighters have every right to approach their fights the way they want, but that doesn't mean we should have to pay to see it or that the UFC needs to prioritize it. Performances like Schevchenko's against Grasso or Bautista's against Aldo don't need to be on PPVs, and those fighters shouldn't be on PPVs for a long time or given other promotional favors. I'm also sick of this Rogan-Cormier-Anik trio. Why was the second best fight on the entire card a prelim? Sometimes I think the UFC is just lost on what the fans really want.
