A trade for Carr or Dalton should look similar to our trade for Tannehill last season.

Titans receive Tannehill + 6th

Dolphins receive 4th + 7th

You would be pretty crazy to give up anymore than that for either of those guys who are just as average as Tannehill was before this past season. The hope is you catch lightning in a bottle under a new front office, coaching staff, scheme, and personnel while not giving up a lot similar to how we did. Imo both of those guys are upgrades over Trubisky which may be just what the doctor ordered with a team that has a defense like yours.

As for Tannehill himself (idk what your cap situation looks like) his market value is correct to what I've seen some of you post already - 4 years 30m AAV. That puts him at 2.5m AAV over Garoppolo and 2m AAV over Cousins which is par for the course in a new market for a QB who just had a lights out season and is looking for long term security. The rumor in Nashville and from a member in our forum who has a connection batting 1.000 since 2017 is that Tannehill's agent and our front office talked numbers, Tannehill's agent and our front office liked the numbers, but Tannehill ultimately did not which led to him firing his agent and hiring a new one about a week ago. The sense is that he wants more than what we're willing to pay and feel his play/question marks of his small sample size don't equal the money he's requesting. Personally, if he is asking for 30m AAV (I think he's asking for more) I wouldn't pay him that either off of a half season's sample size and a luck luster playoff performance, but I could see why a QB needy team with cap space would do it. I believe we're going for Brady and our organization's New England roots in Vrabel, who Brady remains very close friends with, and GM Jon Robinson will give us the edge over any of the other teams.

I've also seen some mention of Mariota on here and I'll give my 2 cents on him as well. His major problem is pocket PTSD. The guy literally goes in to freak out mode from getting absolutely bludgeoned in the pocket (a lot of the time because of no one's fault but his own) and he is very injury prone. His 2016 season ended with a broken leg. In 2018 he suffered an injured ulnar nerve that lasted the entire year (this happened in week 1 and it effects your ability to grip because it causes numbness in your fingers and tingling down your arm and hand), two neck stingers, a cracked vertebra, plantar fascia tear, strained oblique, broken rib, and sprained AC shoulder joint. We also did him absolutely no favors as an organization having 3 different HC's, 4 different OC's, and 5 different play callers during his tenure with us. I honestly wonder what would have happened if he had some organizational stability and he didn't break his leg at the end of the 2016 season...he had a very promising rookie season and was playing incredibly well the following year which had us all believing we finally found our franchise QB. Everything broke down with him from that point on. A change of scenery could really help him, but he looked really bad the majority of the games he played in 2018 and 2019.

The last thing I'll mention is in regards to some of the TE talk I've been reading on here. He's older, but if Delanie Walker's ankle checks out he could be an interesting and cheaper option for you if we end up cutting him which seems very likely at this point. Imo, he's got quite a bit left in the tank considering he played a more reserved role in San Francisco earlier in his career. He was on his way to a very good season before his ankle flared up after week 3 last year (weeks 1-3: 18 rec, 158 yards, 2 TD's). He could be an even more interesting option if you do end up signing Mariota. They had an incredible rapport together in Tennessee.

Thank you for bringing in some fresh first hand info.

Jags salary purge is on. Allbright is saying they are working to deal Foles.

I just checked out the thread on that trade.

Anybody have any idea what the Jaguars are doing? I'm confused.

For the Bears to deal for him JAX would have to basically eat all of what they just saved in trading Bouye from Foles’ deal. Maybe more. And even then I’m not at all interested. Save for one January he’s the very definition of just a guy.

Since his WTF 2013 with 27/2 TD/INT Foles has 38 TD and 28 INT in 38 appearances (32 starts), and his 3.4% TD percentage and 2.5% INT percentage in that stretch are both worse than those of Mitch. Foles has never started more than 11 games in any one season. He’s lost his starting job to Case Keenum and Gardner Minshew and was traded for Sam Bradford. He’s broken his collarbone twice. For his price to us in trade I’d rather we just bring back Daniel. He’s below Matt Moore on the list for me.

Foles would want to start, and there is no compelling evidence he could really do that. Pace should want no part of Foles.

Why is Carolina shopping Turner? Isn’t he a 26-year old 5x pro bowler?

Foles is coming with a pick. The Jags are in desperate need of cap space.

I would gladly take Foles and a 2nd round pick from the Jags. He has 21 million guaranteed left, we split it over 2 years. He competes in 2020 and is cut with a decent dead cap hit in 2021.

Intentionally trying to lose.

I'm more surprised with what Denver is doing. The Jags were going to cut him if they didn't find a suitor but instead DEN gave up a 4th rounder.

Foles WITH a 2 I would do provided we can do something with his contract. He’s not real competition though. The vast majority of his career when he’s had extended run he’s shown to be really underwhelming.

He is competition, he sets a floor on how bad the QB play will be. His upside is zilch, but that might be perfect for Pace.

If they send a pick back and Foles is down for reworking his guaranteed I think you have to seriously consider it.

Aw come on.  Tell us how your REALLY feel about him.  ;)  LOL

Gotta agree.  Foles might be my very last choice behind even Mariota and Keenum.

Someone to replace Chris Harris whose a UFA and looking for similar money with some guarantees.  Bouye is out of gtd $$$ so it's play for pay with him, he's 2 years younger, and Fangio has always liked him.  We wanted him back in 2017 but he wanted to stay in the AFC South so he signed with JAX.
