Week 3 GDT: Bill Polian Still Hates the Osweiler Trade & Never Tanked

Yes, it all is against common sense. The best friend of the downfield passing game is the run game. However, you've gotta look at the bigger picture. Deshone could've been eased into it but at some point he still would've had to learn the things he did these first three games. Likewise, we have to learn a whole lot about him to decide what we'll do this upcoming draft. No point in wasting anybody's time and leaving question marks as to if he can be a franchise QB.

Hue has not only had to bring him along but the rest of this team as well and call plays. With such a young team and a new DC all phases still are improving. In regards to Kizer, IMO he looked a lot more comfortable. The blocking has gotten better as well. What I loved to see though was him escaping the pocket and scrambling when needed. Checking down and not always looking deep. Throwing the ball where LB's won't tip it. If not for the penalties and the drops it wouldn't have mattered if we were running or throwing. I love that. This is an offense that can do anything. A power right side OL with great pass blockers on the left allows you to help Shon without worrying about the blindside. Duke is dynamic, Crow can catch. The TE's are better receivers than blockers but that's the price you pay. The WR's got open against a secondary they should have.

Now it's back to a tougher test vs Cincy. Players seem to have settled into their roles on offense so hopefully we can eliminate the self inflicted wounds and shine through.
