HUNGARY

Offense:
Welcome to the newest episode of “Whose line is it anyway?” where each week we have a brand new cast of characters at the o-line position. On the bonus side this week, we don’t have to face Joey Bosa. Just TJ Watt and a end of the road Ryan Kerrigan if Lancaster plays him this week. Thus, we are going to focus on the double team of TJ Watt, and let the rest of the o-line handle their one-on-one matchups.

We are going to be fairly run balanced. We want to focus on getting chunk plays instead of the deep ball passes where Wentz tends to throw his INTs. We want to focus on getting 4-5 yards via a two headed running attack with Robinson and Henderson. They will also be heavily involved in the screen game.

We also look to hit our receivers quick to minimize what little pass rush Lancaster has left in the tank. We will rotate our receivers in and out of the slot so if Lancaster plays man it takes a boundary receiver into a different look. If they play sides, this allows us to get threats like DK and Thielen in a better look away from Ramsey. Hock will see a fair share of targets as well as he comes into his own on offense.

Defense:

Well don’t we have a task this week? Stopping Wilson and Kamara. Wilson’s kryptonite is zone blitz, so we will be focusing our defense around that concept throughout the game. We will be overloading the sides to keep Wilson pinned inside the box throughout the game. This will also slow down Kamara as a runner as the defense would be cutting down the running lanes.

We will have a safety up in the box (Smith primarily) throughout the game to spy Kamara and put 7 inside. In man coverage situations, Hayward and Moseley will have the boundary with Ryan having the slot.  Jonnu in man will be covered by Shaq. Baker will be playing the cover 1 primarily to defend a potential deep shot and be the last man standing if somehow either Kamara or Wilson gets past the front two lines.

LANCASTER

Lancaster Offensive Strategy: We took a huge blow losing Kittle last week so we want to make things as easy as possible for our other offensive weapons this week. We want to use the running game to set up the play action pass later on in the game. We want to use a lot of motion plays to move our weapons around and throw off the defense. We want to bunch our receivers up to create traffic at the line of scrimmage. We just want to get creative in how we use our receivers to help them get open and make things easier on Russell Wilson.

The Passing Strategy: As we said previously, we want to get creative this week in how we use our offensive weapons. As per usual, Alvin Kamara will play a big role in the passing game. We are going to use screen passes to get him in space and split him out wide or in the slot to get mismatches. A new thing we're going to do this week is use bunch formations where we'll have receivers lined up together near the line of scrimmage. We want to use this to get a bunch of bodies all running near each other at the beginning of plays, hopefully creating some confusion for the opposing DBs. Jonnu Smith is obviously not as talented as George Kittle but he's an athletic pass catcher who we can at least use in similar ways in the passing game where we can line him up as a big slot and create mismatches. Essentially we want our scheme this week to focus on getting mismatches and creating separation for our pass catchers. Finally we're going to go run heavy early on to help set up play action passes to limit the amount of additional help Hungary can give later on as they have to respect our run game with Kamara.

The Running Strategy: Kamara is out there as good as ever, he's been playing incredibly well so far this year. We want to use him a lot early on to draw the defense into the box. This will really help set up the pass later on when we use play action to check the defense and get that little bit of extra room we need to get our receivers open. When we run we do want to mostly avoid the two big boys in the middle of that Hungary DL. Fortunately we think they're pretty vulnerable on the edges and so that's where we're going to run at. We're going to get Kamara going off the tackle or even outside on pitches or tosses. As usual, this will give Kamara the ball in space where he thrives and he can make moves against guys.

Lancaster Defensive Strategy: Wentz has struggled and been inconsistent this year and so we're going to make him beat us with his arm. We trust our secondary to help limit the talented Hungary receiving weapons and we think our pass rush will be able to get plenty of pressure against this OL even with Bosa probably being out. We're going to crowd the box and blitz plenty and make Wentz beat us here.

The Pass Defense Strategy: Hungary has talented receiving options (luckily Golladay is out) but we have a talented secondary who we think can realistically play well against any receiving group in the league. Jalen Ramsey will cover DK Metcalf with Eddie Jackson bracketing him over the top. Jaire Alexander will cover Thielen and Brian Poole will cover Darius Slayton. Obviously we aren't going to shut them down or anything but we can definitely limit their effectiveness, especially since we hope to put the pressure on Wentz. Jonathan Abrams will be playing up in the box and covering James Robinson if he comes out of the backfield. Fred Warner and Bobby Wagner will alternate between playing covering Hockenson, playing a middle zone, and blitzing (with one on Hockenson at all times). For the pass rush, we want to do a lot of stunts and things like that to get Watt rushing against the interior OL where we think he can put the heat on Wentz, pushing in the pocket and forcing him to move.

The Run Defense Strategy: We're going to have seven men in the box with Abrams up there. We're going to have Linval Joseph rotating in heavily to help occupy multiple bodies on the OL and allow second level defenders to have easier access to ball carriers.

The talk on Kerrigan is interesting consider he has 4 sacks on the year and Jordan Jenkins has 1 so far who Hungary is starting at end. That pass rush is still deadly against this oline.

Kerrigan has 4 this year and had 5.5 last. Jenkins is younger and had 8 sacks last season.

My OTs combined have given up one sack this season. So stop it.

Younger? Yeah that’s a difference. Dotson has played 4 games two of those against the jets and New England who can’t rush the passer. Fisher has the escapability of Mahomes at play that Wentz isn’t showing currently. So stop it.

Younger comes into play because Kerrigan has had a noted play drop off. The guy consistently had double digit sacks. Now he doesn't.  Age is a factor.

Dotson last season only gave up 3.5. The seasons prior to that it was 4 per season. He consistently does not allow a lot of sacks each season. As for Fisher, Mahomes is never in the pocket. It changes the way the OTs have to protect every play. I'm sorry but you cannot be a functional QB if your LT is not a good LT. You saw that with Dak. They don't get time to throw but Mahomes is literally leading the MVP vote.

Lol his drop off is that he's playing rotationally behind two very good young players (and still lead the team in sacks as a rotational guy until 2 weeks ago). Despite all of that, not sure why you think he'd have been the one starting considering he hasn't even been a reserve on my roster in weeks.

Comparing his age to Jenkins with his one sack as if Jenkins being younger makes a difference when he has worse stats.

I don't see how you think I'd start a RL backup over Ferrell, a starter. Ferrell is absolutely a good run defender even if he's not a good pass rusher. But that's fine since you're double teaming Watt while I'm sending blitzers often. So have fun trying to block everybody.

If your goal is to get pass rush, you wouldn't play a run defending edge. You are wanting more pressure according to your strategy, not less, but hey you want Ferrell, have Ferrell. No complaints from me.

I'll be fine between Watt (being double teamed), Kenny Clark, Javon Kinlaw, and a blitzer. You played right into the strategy by double teaming Watt, opening up room for everyone else.

Tim Settle has more sacks on the year than Ferrell, Clark and Kinlaw combined...

And you ran into my startegy. Quick passing game and screens to neuter the blitz.
