PORTLAND

Gameplan:

Offense: Caff is back! So spread them out. Our offense I think has a massive advantage over the Seoul defense especially is spread and short quick passing game formations. There isn’t a DB on the field that can contain or even slow down Davante Adams the way he is playing right now. They will have to give extra attention to him to slow down Adams. Meanwhile that would leave Fulgham (aka Randy Moss mixed with Jerry Rice), Mike Williams and Mark Andrews with one on one matchups that I think they can easily win- especially Fulgham and Williams vs the Seoul CB’s. With all the attention my outside WR’s and TE’s will command it will be really difficult for Seoul to try and cover McCaffrey out of the backfield. I think no matter who Seoul tries to take away, someone will be in a match up to be open, decisively and quickly for Kirk Cousins to easily deal a pass to.

We can also have a 2 RB package with Montgomery and McCaffrey. If Seoul goes heavy to try and stop the run, we can flex McCaffrey and have some huge advantages on the outside, if they treat McCaffrey like a WR and go lighter, running the ball with McCaffrey or Montgomery should provide solid running lanes

Defense:

4-3 base.

Marcus Peters vs Tyler Lockett: Seoul’s only threat on the outside is Lockett. Peters will shadow him and I think show him down significantly.

Jamie Collins spies Kyler Murray: For this game we stay in 4-3 and spy Kyler with a good sideline to sideline LB in Collins. He can limit Murray’s impact as a runner.

Bracket Kelce: In obvious passing situations, I would take Martinez off the field and put in Justin Blackmon who is having an amazing rookie season. I’d use Jenkins low and Blackmon high to take away Kelce

Front 7 should slow down Fournette: The strength of my d-line and LB is run defense. Leonard Fournette isn’t a massively explosive runner and relies mostly on power that should play into our defenses hands.

Bud Dupree vs Andrew Thomas: with Ronnie Stanley gone for the year, that forces historically bad rookie tackle Andrew Thomas on the field. It will be our plan to never move Dupree from Thomas. Seoul will have to dedicate a double team every snap to slow down Dupree against Thomas otherwise Bud is gonna eat the rook’s lunch on literally every play.

Rotating opposite DE to keep the offensive line gassed: With so much attention being need to be paid to helping Thomas stop Dupree, Portland quietly has a good 3 man rotation in John Simon, Tyvus Bowser and Tyquan Lewis to give different types of rushers to throw at the otherside of the line. If Seoul commits to stopping Dupree the other side will get their pressure and sacks especially late in the game when they will be fresher

SEOUL

11 Man Personnel (80%), 02 Man Personnel (20%)

Gameplan:   We plan to spread out Portland’s Base defense, we are going to run a base 11 Man personal.   We will switch to an 02 man personnel with Kelce and Brate protecting the OT’s on long 3rd Downs.

Running Game:   We plan to use our big Interior OL in this game.   We don’t plan to use many counters in this game, we believe we can drive this DL with ease and plan to run early and often.   We want to get Fournette involved early, but will throw in some RPO and read options as the game moves along to put pressure on the edge.  We believe spreading the D out in 12 man personnel, will spread out the D and let our IOL really dominate running up the middle.

Passing Game:  We believe with Portlands CB’s they will be running a ton of zone this week.   We plan to run a majority of deep posts, crosses and slants.   We want to play this game in the middle of the field in both the run and passing games.

QB Gameplan:  Pretty simple gameplan for Murray, let Fournette eat up the middle and focus on finding the open zone, in the middle of the field, in the passing game.

RB Gameplan:   We didn’t acquire Fournette to sit him, we believe this gameplan is catered to Fournette’s strengths.  He will take what the OL creates up the middle, with Murray keeping the edge honest.   Kelley will help spell Fournette, but Fournette will be seeing 70% out of the possible 80% we are in our base offense.

WR Gameplan:  We won’t implement a ton of motion in this game, we are going to stick with Lockett and Samuel on the outside, and Shepard working from the slot.  Agholor, Patrick, and Gage will spell these 3 at each spot.

TE Gameplan:  Kelce will be working Inline all game, he will be helping our OT’s with chips and being a hot route option for Murray.   Brate will sub in  on our 02 packages, he will be opposite Kelce helping the other OT with chips and being a check down option.

OL Gamplan:   We are going to let our Interior OL do work in the running game and focus on the power run game, while leaving them on their own in the passing game.    We hope the power run game will help our OT’s get into the flow of the game, while using our TE’s to help them on the edge in 02 personnel.

Gamplan:   We going with a base 4/3 Under this week, we’ll still with this base on early downs throughout the game.   While switching to Nickel on 3rd Down.

Front 7:   We will be attacking Portlands Interior OL, with our Edge’s playing a soft contain on McCaffrey

Coverage:  We will split between Cover 2 man, Cover 3, and Cover 6.    We plan to play up tight on Early Downs, while dropping back into a variety of zones on 3rd downs.

Edge Gameplan:  We think Portland’s OT’s are a big strength, we don’t believe attacking the edge will benefit us in this game.    While we will be lining up with a 5 man DL, our LEO and WDE will spend a majority of the game with soft rushes, while keeping their eyes on swing passes to Christian McCaffrey.  We want our Edges to force McCaffrey to do his damage in the middle of the field.   A. Smith and B. Chubb will spend the majority of the game in this role, with Alton Robinson spelling both of them.

DL Gamplan:  Our main area of focus is attacking Portland’s interior OL, we believe this base gives Campbell and Jarrett plenty of 1 on 1’s throughout the game.  We want Campbell and Jarrett fresh on 3rd downs, so while they will be seeing a majority of the snaps, T. Lancaster will spell them on early downs in each series.

LB Gamplan:  M. Kiser and N. Kwiatkoski get the start this week.   We won’t be sending many blitzes this week, since we believe we can take advantage with just our IDL.   We feel these are our best 2 coverage LB’s and we want them sitting in the middle to take care of Andrews and McCaffrey.

CB Gameplan:  Nelson and Breeland will be the starting outside CB’s, we like their competiveness and we’ll look to press Portland’s outside receivers on early downs.   We want to delay their release to give our IDL an extra second to put pressure on Cousins.     R. Darby will spell them on the outside, while also coming in during Nickel.   Breeland will shift to inside CB in subpackages.

S Gameplan:   M. Williams and McLeod will spend a majority of the game in 2 deep coverage, while shading to D. Adams side on early downs.   Pretty easy gameplan for the safeties, with them primarily covering the 2 deeps halves.
