Hungary Hippos

Offense:
Rome’s defense is still pathetic. Hungary is going to be eating that defense for breakfast this week. We are going to feature DK, the Rhino Metcalf. We are going to feed him all day. Dean sucks. Jackson sucks. They don’t have a corner on that roster that can stop DK Metcalf. The ball will be be funneled to him on the boundary, on the left side and out of the slot. We will look to get minimum 160 yards out of him this week because he will be running circles around a secondary that is absolute trash. Slant routes, corner routes, go routes, streak routes. He is a YAC machine. DK will jump up and take every ball out of the air against this secondary. We will feature him on trips and confuse the secondary, and let him tear the roof off of the defense. And then when the defense tries to send the kitchen sink at DK, I’m going to hit them with Thielen. Again, they don’t have anyone in that secondary that can stop Thielen consistently. Slayton will also get fed some, but not as much as DK and Thielen. When they decide to send the “pass rush” at Wentz then look for some Hock time against a trash duo of linebackers in the middle of the field and Robinson out in open space. We are going to demolish Rome through the air all day to every single option we have on our team. Bernard will get some looks in the passing game as well. We will flex out the RB from time to time as well.

The running game this week will be a bunch of pitch outs. Every team thinks, blitz Wentz and we win the game, well that **** ain’t happening today. You want to send the blitz at Wentz, we will make the RBs stretch that defense out. We want to get to boundary and let our WRs run block the hell out of those trash corners. Robinson and Bernard will have a lot of room, when the corner gets pummeled by Theilen and DK. We will get lots of chunk yards.

We look to absolutely demolish Rome in this game. We may be out of the playoffs, but that does not mean we aren’t going to be the dark horse that knocks some illplanned teams down.

Defense:

This week we bring the BDL version of NFL Blitz to Herbert’s front door. Our main goal is to rack up as many hits on the QB as possible throughout this game. We are sending corner blitzes (Budda will slide to cover), safety blitzes, linebacker blitzes and our coupe de gras, Zero blitzes all game. We are going to jam the receivers at the line every single play. We will also jam the TE as well if they choose to use him this week. We are going to send at least six on a blitz on any given play trying to outnumber the number of protectors and it will come from the middle, the blind and right side. Without Linder the middle becomes a lot more fruitful. We will keep changing it up, Our blitzers will have hands up to clog the throwing lane. We are going to hammer Justin Herbert and not give him time to throw anywhere. We are going to make him so gun shy with all the blitzers that he will be trying to throw it away earlier and earlier every time the blitz comes forcing receivers in bad timing situations with the jam. We are going to give him no time to carefully scan his targets in this game. [Matchups just because some people care: Hayward Jr on Juju, Moseley on Cooper, Ryan on Fuller and Oru on Crowder respectively throughout the game)

By sending so many people into the backfield, Lindsay will not have a lot of running room especially up the gut of the defense. We will have one safety spy the RB just in case he tries to run a screen play to keep the yardage in check. With the extreme pressure, we look to get some TFL’s in the backfield on Lindsay and Swift as their blockers get overmatched by the number of players alone.

Rome Eternals

Motivation

Win or go home.  We win all three of our remaining games, we make the playoffs. We lose, we are basically eliminated.

 Offense

Captain Drew returns as we expect Hungary to try to get creative in order to get any pressure and they will likely be blitzing more this week to make up for a lackluster pass rush.  We are more than happy to dink and dunk our way down the field and let our electric WR playmakiers do what they do

4 wr 1 RB (40%)

This is where the majority of pur passing game will come from.  Juju  and Crowder  come from the slots with Fuller and Amari outside.  We will use motion to determine man or zone and allow Brees to audible as he sees fit.     If we see man coverage, we’ll motion back to spread and take Fuller and run him deep at the safety on that side.  That should leave the underneath and boundaries wide open for Juju and Crowder on that side of the field  The four wide also lightens the box for us and allows Swift and Lindsey to run behind BDL premier offensive line and get to the second level.  We will have one member of the trio of WR run into the flats if no one comes with them as any zone blitz is going to leave that spot open.  We also will be flooding the wide side of the field to give us the most space with outs seams, gos and other zone options.  The screen game to our WR will be an extension of the run game here.  If we see majority zone expect some quick snaps with jet sweep action to Juju and Crowder.  In man, we trust our talent to run a full route tree and work against some subpar secondary members. .The run game will be base on off tackle plays as well as the screen game. When we see edges gunning straight just for Brees, we’ll hit a draw and run right past them.   Hungary has little to no edge rushing ability that matches with our tackle talent so we will have our RB run more routes than normal after blitz alert.  Swift will have more snaps out of this formation than lindsay

2 wr, 2 te, 1 RB (20-25%)

This is our more transitional set.  We will attack the edges in the run game with Lindsay and Swift receiving equal looks in this lineup.  We’ll also line both wide receivers up on the same side and run some tosses either to their side if zone is shown or to the wide open field side in man.  The passing game will come off play action with crosses, drags and posts being the main weapons

2 RB, 3 WR    10%

This will be our Justin Herbert formation.  The triple read option is going to play a heavy part from this formation.  Mainly from the pistol formation, the first read is the edge crashing down to stop the inside run, if he does then we run the speed option to the side of the field with two WR to serve as lead blockers to the speed option.  The linebacker on this side will have to determine to go after Herbert or the RB.  If we see the defense creeping up, we are gonna hit a play action deep to Fuller

5 wide (10%)

This will be reserved for long down and distance.   Hungary will likely be playing zone when we break this out so we will flood one side of the field with our zone breaker routes.  We also will break this out on rare occasion on first down if we see zone is the answer to this formation and will hit a quick WR screen to Fuller with Cooper and Renfrow as the lead blockers

Other 15 percent will be a mix of things working about and jumbo goal line sets as needed.

I know I said this before, but up front we feel we have the best line in the BDL and we are counting on them to open holes for the running game and give Brees all the time he needs   A running back  will be on blitz alert before starting his route

lTl/dr:

Captain Drew leads the offense on long drives.  Take what the defense gives us and let our playmakers make plays after the catch.  Run at the edges, incorporate screens as an extension of the run game

Defense

This week we play a Hungary team that is built around a talented group of Wide Receivers and an emerging running back.  Despite the skill player talent this offense is bogged down by a simply abysmal interior offensive line and unfortunately, a QB that crumbles when faced with pressure in his face

Luckily for us we get one of the league’s premier interior pass rushers back this week in Malik Jackson and it couldn’t come at a better time.  We are going to line Tomlinson in between Herbig and Skura and let Jackson destroy name that guard all day long.  If Hungary chooses to slide the line towards Jackson, Tomlinson should be able to run through Herbig pretty easily.  To add on to this we are going to dial up a lot more zone blitzes than normal right up the gut.  Wentz has shown the knack to hold onto the ball too long and make poor decisions under pressure thus far and we plan on exposing that.  The interior zone blitz should also snuff out the majority of the run game as our edges will be playing contain, keeping everything inside and flowing the RB to out interior and LB.  The 2-4-5 defense will also return periodically this week to allow us to peel a a lb playing edge back into coverage and not give up any athleticism.  LVE and Campbell play the edge LB in this formation with Tomlinson and Brown inside

As mentioned earlier, Hungary does have an excellent receiving trio but our trio of corners is one of the best in BDL.  When playing man.  We are locking up Theilan this game with Humphrey who will follow him wherever he goes.  Jackson is gonna have Metcalf with help over the top from Boston on that side of the field.  Dean will get Slayton in the War Eagle battle that gives me a bit of a stiffy.  Anzalone gets Hockeson while Hicks gets the RB.  Harmon will be our swiff army knife in man defense.  He will occasionally blitz, occasionally pick up a LB assignment who is blitzing, or more oftan than not be playing centerfield with eyers on Slayton first, TE second and RB third

Up front we will rotate in Brown and Brockers to give Jackson and Tomlinson a breather on short distances to keep everyone fresh. Sheard pops in when one of our edges needs a break.   LVE comes on in two tight end looks and gets that assignment.  NRC would run with Isabella and if there is a five wide, Buster Skrine is rostereed

We are going to use more play variances this week as far as mixing in base zones, cover one safety, cover two three and four.  The more we make Wentz think, the better we feel we are going to be/  We are going to make them go on long drives and force Wentz to play consistent football to score at all

Tl/dr.

Throw a bunch of looks at Wentz and make him make accurate throws to the correct read.  Blitz the interior to force errors.  Maintain edges and keep running game bottled up inside.  Don’t allow big plays

BCB really was prepared for what PR was going to do on defense but PR’s so dominant offense against such a trash Rome defense has me convinced.

It should considering his entire starting defensiveline has a combined 5.5 sacks on the season. Ogbah has 8 by himself (which is why I laughed when he said I had a lackluster pass rush)

Ogbah - 8 sacks
Allen - 2 sacks
Settle - 3 sacks
Addison - 4 sacks

17 sacks on the season in comparison to his 5.5.

Oh good let's go by just total sacks and not pay attention to games played or pressures or run defense or anything

In that case Leonard Floyd is nearly twice as good as Addison.  Am I doing this right?

But you can’t stop his offense so what does it even matter
