multiple opinions are not a sign of doom - they are a sign of how medicine is practiced in the multi-million $$ NFL.
And since GB has one of the top Ortho groups in the US right across the parking lot at Lambeau - of course they are going to let others weigh in

Not of doom, but it's a sign that there's something questionable there that experts are consulted. We would all prefer that there wasn't anything noteworthy to consult an expert about and that he'd be fine this week.

Doesn't mean he won't be, but it increases the odds that the unknown part could be significant.

Not really, experts are always consulted. And there's always something questionable - that's why they still call it medical "practice"

Team docs/trainers are at the game and include Dr. Patrick McKenzie, Team Physician with decades of NFL experience. But he isn't a specialist on every joint or every single injury. Dr. Robert Anderson, the world- renowned foot/ankle guy based his ortho clinic in GB, but he isn't at the game and neither is the shoulder specialist who works with him. So the team docs do a workup and send those scans to the specialist MDs to get a 2nd opinion. Its standard procedure.

Since there is always a 2nd opinion, ascribing additional concern to that act is unfounded

The NFL CBA protects the players' health and encourages them to get 2nd opinions from any MD they want - and the team pays. Same when its time to do any procedures- the player can have the team doc or an outside MD do the work, the team pays for either option.

Given the opportunity for a free consult from the top MDs on the planet- every player & agent take that option.
It protects the team and the player and it documents everything for any future injury settlements.

There are millions on the line in terms of salary & future earnings and everybody is covering their ***** along the way - by gathering opinions from a variety of team and non-team affiliated sources.

This is all standard procedure when treating highly- compensated elite athletes represented by both a union and an agent.

I disagree that outside experts are always consulted for every injury. Every game players return within minutes from injuries that clearly do not involved outside experts. Every week, players are treated in house for a variety of ailments with no outside consultation.

I'm not quite sure why you're being this argumentative about this particular issue. I 100% understand that outside experts are often consulted on concerning injuries to NFL athletes.

Which brings us full circle to my original observation: that we all would have preferred it be an injury that was not concerning enough to elicit outside consultation (like the dozens/hundreds of ailments that occur to players on a weekly basis).
