Just be thankful that Ty Lue tanked those games at the end of the season or your "smart" organization would've been handing over their high lottery pick to OKC. Celtics lost 4-1 in the first round and he has them finishing third and Tatum winning MVP. This thread is for discussion from those who support good teams.

ROY:  Evan Mobley

MIP:  James Wiseman

These two are tough ones for me. I love Mobley's long-term potential but just don't see him playing well enough to be ROY. Only 1 big has won the award in the last decade and the last 4 ROY's were LaMelo, Ja, Luka, and Simmons, 4 players that were primary ball handlers. Mobley's currently shooting 33% from the field in the preseason and averaging like 4.5 fouls in 28 mpg. He had similar issues in the summer league. And I also just don't see Wiseman playing enough or being featured enough to get MIP, if it is a Warriors player it's likely going to be Poole.

Mobley will figure it out. Jalen Green just shot 33%, 20% from three with 7 turnovers and was awful in the first preseason game.  Cade hasn't played in the preseason.  Suggs has a good chance but he has also struggled.  I think Mobley will be a solid defender and put up enough numbers to win it.  I also think the others will struggle and he has a chance to move Cleveland into that 8/9 playoff spot so he will get more attention.

Wiseman was just a shot in the dark.  People are down on him and I think he has a decent year.    Biggest issue will be injuries and if this knee is a long term thing.  Everyone jumps at Poole with his preseason but I think Wiseman has a bigger impact on that team for the full year.

I think Mobley will have a pretty similar year to what Wiseman had last season. I get that Green had a bad couple of games but he's going to be Houston's primary ball handler so he'll put up numbers this season just based on volume alone, the same for Cade. When you look back at the last 15 winners the only two bigs to win the award were Blake Griffin (22/12) and KAT (18/11). Mobley averaged 11 ppg on 33% with 4.5 fouls per game in the SL and in the preseason he's averaging 9 points on 46% and 3.5 fouls per game. Anthony Davis didn't even win it his rookie season despite having a pretty good year. He's in a weird spot in Cleveland playing with Lauri/Allen as well as a guard like Sexton who's in a contract year. I also don't think Cleveland has any chance of making the playoffs. The Nets, Bucks, Hawks, Celtics, 76ers, Heat, Knicks, and Bulls should all make it and then you have teams like the Pacers/Hornets who will be right there as well.

It looks like Looney is going to start over Wiseman this year and they've been actively shopping him.
