He increased his catch % by 10 last season going from 53% to 63%.

But, like Cordarrelle Patterson, you can use him in a multitude of ways. Heck, if the team doesn't see him as a legit WR, turn him into a full time RB like Flash!

Wow.  I'm surprised to hear that his catch percentage was higher last year.  That's an interesting stat.  He did have a lot of drops on passes that he absolutely should have caught, though.  Cordarrelle is a good comparison, and I could see us using him like the 49ers use Deebo Samuel too.  It's going to be interesting to see how the new coaching staff works with Laviska because he is capable of making some big plays.

Using him as a running back might also come in handy this season because we have two good running backs who were both injured last year.  I've been assuming we will pick up another RB in the draft, but maybe we could use Laviska as a stop gap until one or both of the other guys are healthy.  Definitely something to consider for the short-term.

So reality is 2 years

A 2-year deal makes sense for a free agent like this.  Yeah, he's probably not going to be a star player, but he is an upgrade.  Even if we are paying him a little more than his perceived "market value", it is really just a short-term investment in the position until you can replace him with a drafted player who costs less and will hopefully be a better, long-term player.
