GAMEPLANS

polar-patroller-polar-bear.gif

Greenland Polar Bears

Motivation: Get back on track

Offense

Offensive Formations: 3WR/1TE/1RB (50%), 2WR/2TE/1RB (40%), 1WR/2TE/2RB (10%)

Offensive Tempo: We want to control the time of possession and methodically and meticulously drive the ball down the field all while limiting the number of possessions Rome will have on offense.

Designed Playcall Distribution: 40% pass, 50% run, 10% playaction/RPO/screens

Running game: Our running game this week will be ramped up in its overall usage.  We want to showcase Saquon Barkley early and often in this game.   We want to manage down and distance as much as possible and will do this by attacking Rome's D-line on the edges.  We feel we have a huge advantage with our o line vs their d line and want to get Barkley out in space this week.  We will feature a heavy dose of outside stretch zone plays along with plenty of sweeps and toss plays.  Look for Barkley to have a heavy load this game with Gibson getting some 3rd down plays and late 3rd quarter touches to switch up the style and keep Barkely fresh for the 4th quarter.  One of the keys to our running this game will be using our Jumbo package about 40% of the time (2WR/2TE/1RB) which should give us more ability to get to the edges, especially if they come with extra men in the box.  This will get extra beef to attack higher levels and break some big runs.

Passing game:  This week we are looking to attack Rome's CB's on the outside and deep.  Usually we like the middle of the field and short stuff but its never good to stick to the same gameplan so we will be switching it up this week.  We want to have Diggs and Lamb keep to the outside and upper level with deep shots, back shoulder throws, posts and digs.   This will keep things spread out to allow Godwin, Barkley and Gibson to work the middle layers and middle of the field later in the game.  Tua is always a fan of TE's which is why we are using our 2 more this game.  We want our TE's to attack the seams and middle of the field where holes open up from the WR action.  Gibson is turning into a great pass catcher, from the backfield and the slot position.  We want to have Gibson move all over in the formations and get plenty of looks, especially on third downs.  Our goal with Tua is to get him pre snap reads so he will have less to read after the snap.  Lots of motion from the WR's, TE's and RB's will get Tua the information he needs.  With any blitzing coming from Rome we want Tua to check it down quick to the RB or TE and avoid any hits, no more concussions for him.

Playaction/RPO/Screens: This game we want to be measured and calculated with our playaction calls.  By this we mean we will be calling playaction to take big shots down the field.  RPO's and screens will be up to Tua to check into based on his presnap reads.  We want the play checked into an RPO when the LB's and S's are moving into the box and screen's when it looks like big pressure is coming.   The screen check downs will be RB and WR screens.

First series of the game: we want to establish the run with Barkley and then take some shots deep with playaction

Defense

Defense Base Formation: 3-4 Cover 3 Man Hybrid

Pass Coverage: This week we want to take force Herbert to make passes where we want him to.  To force the throws where we want them we will be using a healthy mix of our Cover 3 Man Hybrid, Cover 2 Man and Cover 6 Zone, we want to clog the middle full of bodies.  The 2nd objective is to limit the big play capabilities of Cooper and Waddle, outside of those 2 we are not threatened really by any other receiver.  Keeping a safeties over top when we play man (Cover 2 Man) and in zone should curtail any deep balls to Hill and help force the inaccurate throws and forced throws into coverage that we want Herbert making.

Cover 3 Man Hybrid

Pass Rush: This week we to target the interior o line of Rome.  We want to overload  the middle and show a bunch a pressure and fake it a bunch as well.  We will run various stunts and twists to keep the pressure coming from various spots on the line and keep Rome getting comfortable.

Run Defense:  Rome will probably want to get to the edge with their RB's which is why we like our 3-4 alignment with Travon Walker playing all over, it gets speed and playmakers onto the field to shut down that game before they can get it started.   We are also focusing on getting up field to disrupt things before their running backs get moving.  Causing missed assignments and blocks is also key so we will be working our stunts and twists into the running game as well

Defensive rotation and formations notes:  we have DT, edge, LB, and DB depth to rotate in and keep everyone well rested.  As for formations, even though our base and dominate formation will be 3-4, we do want to sprinkle in some 4-4, 4-3, and nickle when warranted.  Walker will be subbing in all over the field and creating some very unique looks and pressure blitzes

Rome Eternals

Offense

While we come out in our traditional four wide look, we are going to to add a lot more power formations this week against a weak front four against the run

In our four wide we anticipate Greenland playing a lot of zone. We are gonna load up the motion into trips leaving Renfrow alone on the road opposite of side. We want to hit seams and floods but we really want to incorporate a lot of quick wr bubble screens as well as traditional RB screens against overmanned sides.  If they come with us showing man, we have no problem hitting rub routes and just letting our WR run their full route three against the slot corners for Greenland   Our RB will be chipping Miller to slow him down   We like our WR in man against the ir corners.

Now the fun run part, we plan on going six OL, two TE and a RB a lot in this game. We are going to hurry up out of this formation and just pound away at this defensive line. Greenland has two 3-4 ends playing 4-3 tackle and Robert Quinn has quite possibly been the worst DE in the league so far this season  We have a lot of beef and mauling up front while bringing in Braden Smith at FB gives us more beef. We are runnjng directly at the Watt and Quinn side of the line as JJ has also struggled against the run this year. Ramcyk/Lindstrom or Hurst/Onwenu lead the way and then Smith gets to unload on a LB with Uzomah leading to the second level. Lots of power is, off tackle and straight old dives.  We'll run some play actions off of this and take a couple deeper shots to Waddle while getting Herbert on the move opposite the play action with Otton as a safety blanket

We'll also use more Taysom Hill formations this week under the same principles of using our advantage up front   Majority read options here but we'll sneak in a passage or two here as well as a reverse to Juju. Harris gets majority of RB snaps. Gordon will spell him when needed

Defense

When you play against a heavy RPO offense you want to force them to do one thing. For us this week, we are eliminating Barkley and the quick hitter from the RPO offense. If Tua and his multiple concussions wants to run, that is fine. We'll late him him directly in the head on his first run, take out penalty and attempt to knock him out for the game

Bolton is going to be the key to the defense today. The front three all have contain responsibility. Bolton has no other assignment today but Barkley. He does not care about the passing game.  He will run directly at the run action, if it is a pass he willing continue on towards Tua

The second thing Tua is good at is taking shots down the field but hitting tight windows underneath is not his strong point.  We are going to be blitzing a second lb or the nickel corner about half the time when in the 3-3-5 to take out some of the time he has four his WR to get down field as well as confuse what I'm sure is the youngest offensive line in the BDL. We want to keep Tua as uncomfortable as possible

On the back end of the defense we are going to be playing majority cover three and forcing Greenland go on long drive and for Tua to make strong throws in the redzone where the windows get even tighter.  Ward is back and takes a side, the slot CB takes a side while the lb takes the middle. If it's a corner blitz, the olb on that side takes the side.  For an added wrinkle, we are going to occasionally drop the Judon into a short zone when blitzing two LB to take away the quick short slant. We think that we'll get either at couple tipped passes or a a pick six this way

For short yardage, we'll go with a more traditional four man front bringing in Purcell and for obvious passing downs, Bolton comes off for Autry inside with Lawson replacing Davenport.  We'll mix in some cover one but we want to play majority of zone this game   We'll play a lot of off man two deep in long distances

If Greenland gets rid of the heavy RPO offense this week,We'll switch back to our base four man front taking Bolton out with Purcell in on early downs and Autry in on the passing downs. Nothing else of these plan really needs to change.

While Pickle is busy covering Taysom Hill on apparent deep routes that Rome isnt running with him, his actual WRs are gonna tear the thin secondary of Greenland apart.

Having said that, Greenland has a really good receiving group. They got a good RB. Theyre gonna score some points but their secondary against an equally good offense is a major liability.

I think Rome can do enough on both sides of the ball to get it done.

Especially with Tua starting to struggle.

35-31 Rome

Going Rome in this one.  Just feel like they put the focus on stopping Barkley and containing the RPO which happened to be their opponents focus on offense.

Would have liked to see Barkley mentioned more in the passing game.

So you didn't read? At least read the gameplans before you post lies for you made up vote lol

What?  You had a whole section dedicated to playaction/RPO/Screens.

I'm running 10% playaction/rpo/screens.  So whats that 3.33% rpo and Rome geared up specifically to stop the rpo that I'm not running at all.  He got gamed by me.

When a team gears up to stop something that I'm not running and you point out thats why he wins is a complete joke.

This is my running game if you read the gameplan and Rome did not prepare for it at all and in fact is running a defense which will be terrible against my gameplan

Okay next time tell me who to vote for before I vote.  Would make this so much easier for me.
