Overview:
So what we clinched, we view this as a playoff game. We’ve never swept the division and this is our chance to make that happen. We are here to play and we are starving for this win. We’ve used the bye week to introduce some new concepts and perfect our schemes.

Offense: 3 Wide (50%), 4 Wide (30%), 2RB (20%) (if Jacobs doesn’t play we will use 20% 2TE instead of 2RB)
We look to a 55/45 Pass/Run play distribution this week. We want to control the clock and keep the Singapore offense off the field. We will utilize the speed of our receiving corps to attack their defense and open up our offense. Jameson Williams plays outside in 4 wide kicking Hollywood inside as the additional slot. Our key areas of focus will be:

Motion and attack the Singapore coverage accordingly

•Utilize our speed to attack the Singapore defense

•Introduce 2RB sets with some Man Blocking Schemes

•Bread and Butter: Zone rushing attack and eat up clock

Attacking Singapore’s coverage scheme:
Singapore likes to run cover 1 man hybrid/Cover 3. We are going to attack them with a scheme that will give them fits regardless of coverage but especially against their bread and butter. We will motion regularly to twins either opposite the TE side or to the TE side, with two receivers stacked or within a couple yards apart to determine man or zone, knowing that if we don’t have a player following motion they will be in zone and likely their cover 3. If they follow the motion with a corner Burrow will pick apart ideal man matchups. Against a zone and lack of motion follower we will attack the outside with a deep route and a quick YAC route out of the twins. We will alternate which receiver is working the deep and underneath routes to not tip anything. The underneath routes build a rhythm and gives our guys opportunities to eat up yards underneath as the corners bail to their deep coverage or if they apply their top down coverage reading and breaking on the underneath route we will have a deep route into what would have been their deep third zone responsibility. If the safety screams over we have a pocket of space behind the corner reacting to the underneath coverage up the sideline between his coverage and the safeties.

We will run our TE up the seam often attacking their middle zone defender as we have a clear size advantage there and also holding that safety from coming over to help on busted coverages with our speed on either side deep. If the twins is to the TE side we will often run a deep post with Likely to pull that middle coverage over, or sit in an empty zone in the middle of the field. When the TE is not running seams/posts and lines up opposite the twins, he will be attacking toward the sideline opposite of our twins on outs, arrows and corners. We will often work a receiver crosser from the tight end side when TE is away from twins to attack any vacated coverage underneath or run a curl if TE is running a deep corner. If our TE is not running a seam/corner and attacking that sideline underneath/intermediate we will run that side receiver deep with Go’s up the sideline or Posts toward the middle safety zone. If the twins is to the TE side our receiver out on an island will run a full route tree and we will look to take advantage of zone or man coverage. Everything we do in the passing game with the TE we will do with our additional slot receiver in four wide. We have great speed in our receiving corps and we will utilize it deep and underneath to make big plays. We will also incorporate this same passing attack with play action to give us added space for our receivers off of the success of our run game.

We will use our backs in the underneath/middle of the field under any seams/posts/corners to attack open space or pull coverage from other players. We will also utilize a lot of swings with our RB’s underneath clearings on the outsides. A couple RB wheels will be used up the sideline with Jacobs if we see receivers are pulling coverage inside with the underneath routes and running coverage off with deeper patterns. If we see heavy blitzing occurring outside of four man rushes we will use our backs to chip before releasing but the plan is to free release them if we see Sing isn’t heavy blitzing as we believe our oline can handle their dline.

2RB and Running Game:
If Josh Jacobs is healthy enough to go we are going to introduce some 2RB sets this week with he and Taylor in the backfield together. We are going to run a mix of zone and man blocking schemes out of this set. We will run some counters and tosses out of this formation. The passing attack will be different in this formation than our 3/4 wide. Some Sail route concepts to flood zones and double swings from our backs. We will incorporate some play action still but we won’t have the same twins routes on the outside as our 3/4 wide. We will at times line up Jacobs in the slot and motion him back to split back, or motion him from RB to slot. In our 2 RB we will look to get Chase and DPJ on the field as our best run blocking receivers but also threats in the passing game in their own right. In our 3/4 wide we will stick to our traditional zone rushing attack. Utilizing both inside and outside zone. Isaiah Likely has been a very effective run blocking tight end and is a great asset to our run game. We will use a 55/45 snap split with Jacobs and Taylor this week with Jacobs seeing more third down reps and work in the passing game than Taylor. If Jacobs is out we will run a 75/25 split with Taylor/Benjamin. We will also run 2TE sets 20% of plays with Akins in at TE2 if Jacobs doesn’t play. In our 2TE we will run some man blocking and zone blocking schemes and work the seams and middle with our TE’s while attacking different depths on the outside. In all formations we want to chew up clock and wear down the Singapore defense with our rushing attack keeping their offense off the field.

Defense: Nickel Base, Dime against 4/5 wide, 4-3 against 2WR or less seats
We believe we can get after this oline with our front four and will blitz less, dropping more into coverage than we normally do. Therefore Micah gets the start at Standup Edge against 3 or more wide. If they are coming at us in run heavy packages with more TE’s we will play Micah and at LBer in a 4-3 front and increase our blitz percentage on third downs.

Get home with four, mix in stunts and twists

•Mixed coverages with 7 in zone

•Bracket Adams

•Play gap disciplined against the run

Pash Rush:
Starting Dline will be Chubb and Micah on the edges with Vita and Oliver inside. As highlighted we want to get home with four. We believe we have the pass rushers to do this and will utilize a healthy amount of stunts and twists to keep the oline on their toes. Oliver and Micah will line up against the right side of their oline against Matt Fieler and McGlinchey. Fieler has not been good and has struggled with stunts inside. Oliver will give him a handful while we utilize some Micah stunts to beat him with speed. Micah will present McGlinchey with plenty of problems when he comes off the edge. We expect to see a lot of chipping and extra help dedicated to Micah so the twists and stunts will help free him up when he isn’t beating their double teams. Vita and Chubb will line up against the left side of their oline where Orlando Brown has given up 35 pressures this season 7 more than our starting tackles combined. Hubbard will play end for Micah on early downs in our 4-3 and still see some rotation time in other formations. Highsmith will replace Hubbard in the 4-3 on clear passing downs while also being the backup for Chubb. Davis and Jones will be our rotational pieces at DT to keep our interior fresh. In zone we will still blitz occasionally with Simmons to keep the offense guessing but it won’t be our normal blitz amount against 3 or more wide. If we are in 4-3 more often Micah will blitz more frequently from a linebacker spot on third downs. Micah will have Daniel Jones spy if he is in the game when we are in 4-3, still blitzing after him frequently on third downs.

Coverage:
Against 3 wide we look for a 70/30 Zone/Man split. Jaycee Horn will be our Adams tracker this game. Even in zone he lines up across from him no matter if he is outside/inside. Surtain has this same responsibility with Mike Evans. Fulton has DeVonta/Meyers. Against 4 wide Jaylon has the fourth receiver. If there are motions we follow and adjust zones accordingly. In Man we will play single high and whichever side Adams is on that side safety Bates/Hufanga will bracket him with Horn. The safety on the other side will be single high. If Adams is in the slot Bates is single high and Simmons/Budda will bracket with Horn while Hufanga has TE. Either way we will have a safety down closer to the line of scrimmage to bracket/cover TE which will also help with the run support. If Adams is outside Hufanga man’s TE, and Walker mans RB. In third and long and clear passing situations we will play Budda as the Stud for Simmons. In Dime Jaylon comes on for Simmons as Hufanga moves to the Stud and we will run predominately zone with an 80/20 Zone/Man split. The 20% we are in man we will not bracket Adams outside but will shade deep coverage over the top on his side. We will bracket him if in the slot with Hufanga and Horn. In our 4-3 we will run a 85/15 Zone/Man split. In man when Micah blitzes or spies Jones (when in), Adams will not see bracket coverage but when Micah doesn’t he will receive Bracket from that side safety while the other safety is deep middle. In no blitz, Micah has RB, Simmons and Walker have TE’s. Or if 2RB 1TE, Walker has the second RB. If Micah is Blitzing or spying, Hufanga takes on his man coverage responsibility. Horn is still tracking Adams and Surtain tracking Evans presnap in our 4-3.

Run Defense:
Gap disciplined defense. We have some skilled penetrators on the Dline and some players that require multiple blockers on them freeing up our second level. We want to contain big play outside runs to the middle of our defense. We have the speed outside on the edge to chase plays down sideline to sideline and get up field to force runs back inside. We have a spy for the Daniel Jones packages and believe we can overpower/outmatch this oline to make plenty of plays in the backfield against their run game. Our defense has a lot of speed and will hunt down ball carriers relentlessly. At the same time we have strong run stopping ends and against heavy formations when in our 4-3 Hubbard and Chubb provide beef on the edges.
