The NFL had been done with Lovie Smith for nearly a decade, David Culley never advanced past a position coach for THREE decades. Do you give a thumbs up for the Texans giving them Head Coaching opportunities to begin with, or is this only a one way street? Let’s not weep too hard for them - both of them received eight figure buyouts in their “sacrificial lamb” years, both collected seven figure salaries for their efforts. As stated before, Lovie was out of the NFL since 2015, and only sank his resume further with a pretty fruitless stint at the University of Illinois. Culley was the WR coach for a team that had zero TDs from that position group in 2014 and a team that is notoriously known for missing on developing WRs at Baltimore. Neither had the resume to land one of 32 head coaching jobs… …yet, that one year they were lambs led to the slaughter, they made more than Bill Belicheck and Pete Carroll combined. Does this factor into your disdain? Or does this not fit your narrative? I’m genuinely curious.
