Starting to get interesting for Lance. Even if Purdy gets the repair and is out roughly 6 months, he's now not going to be ready until after camp, most likely

The Purdy / Lance dynamic will be one of the most interesting situations in the league next year.

Trey will be the starter, dude oozes superstar potential to never get a chance. 3 starts, two as a rookie, is not a chance. I don’t know why you are so blind on this. Sure Purdy won games… but he is a limited QB just like Jimmy, very limited. The NFL will now have tape on Purdy. Just like Jimmy won his first 7 games as a Niner and then the NFL had tape on all his limitations.

Jimmy won his first 5 games and then proceeded to go 35-17 with a run to the NFC championship and Super Bowl. So even with all of that tape teams still weren't really able to find ways to beat them consistently.

They won in spite of Jimmy. That’s how good the coaching and defense has been. Any Top 10 QB and they coast to a Super Bowl in 2019, and also 2022.

Considering that Lance has only played in a handful of games over the last three years and his struggles with accuracy in the limited time he has played in the NFL, I'm not sure how you can be 100% confident that he'll start. Didn't Kittle just go on the record during SB week saying that the team loves Purdy and it's essentially his team in the locker room?

You gotta stop believing recency bias so much. It doesn’t matter what was said in a lockerroom in february. Feb to August in the football world is like a lifetime.

What about him playing in 5 games over a three year period? Or the fact that he's coming off of a serious injury? It'd be pretty unprecedented for someone to have as much success as Purdy did and then to be relegated to a backup role the following season.

If Jimmy was THAT much of a liability they wouldn't have brought him back this season. If you want to see a team winning in spite of their QB, go watch any 2006 Chicago game.
