onejayhawk
Nice paragraph in a match-ups article. https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/38634218/nfl-week-6-2023-questions-risers-fallers-takeaways-lessons-stats Can the Chiefs sustain the way they're playing defense? Yes. It's no longer a small sample size. Through six games, the Chiefs were allowing the second-fewest points (14.7) per game and fifth-fewest yards (284) coming into Sunday. They will get challenged over the next few weeks with upcoming games against the Chargers, Dolphins and Eagles, but the Chiefs have shown they are capable of holding their own. onejayhawk
A nice video review of Derrick Nnadi and how he has upped his game. The short version, he's healthy, he improved his technique, and maybe a new sense of purpose. Regardless, no one is pushing him for PT right now. https://www.arrowheadpride.com/2023/10/17/23920328/film-review-how-derrick-nnadis-resurgence-has-helped-chiefs-defense
Chiefs_5627
Return of the Shark? Word is he's taking a physical Thursday. I really like that he can be that Dunlap type role without that albatross of a contract that made it tiresome when he didn't do a lot in the regular season as a full timer. I hope he comes home 💪
onejayhawk
The Chiefs waived Keondre Coburn to make room for Mecole Hardman. Denver has picked Coburn up. KC is a 6th round pick who had been sidelined by Derrick Nnadi's improved play. https://www.yardbarker.com/nfl/articles/chiefs_draft_pick_lands_with_afc_west_rival/s1_17313_39418497 Edited October 20, 2023 by onejayhawk
onejayhawk
I was excited when we landed Trent McDuffie in the 2022 draft. He was no Sauce Gardener but who is? With Sauce fighting an injury, it turns out that no one else can top McDuffie. PFF has his as the highest rated CB in the league. https://chiefswire.usatoday.com/2023/10/20/kansas-city-chiefs-trent-mcduffie-enters-week-7-pro-football-focus-highest-graded-cornerback/ https://x.com/PFF_Chiefs/status/1715013462294692221?s=20 Edited October 20, 2023 by onejayhawk

EMAW_KSU
I think we’re waiting for Shark to get healthy, and or a roster spot, well…look what we’re likely have now.

This defense might be our best tackling defense I've seen since the 90's. Everyone in the secondary, LBers and Dline are solid tacklers, it's a nice change. Speaking of which, he had some words on Omenihu's arrival. https://www.arrowheadpride.com/2023/10/26/23933776/chiefs-news-steve-spagnuol-charles-omenihu-return It was nice to have a guy back there with that length. That was a huge play that he made. It was a third down in the red zone, a four-point play that turned into a seven-point play because we picked it off. He was some juice for us—and hopefully, each week, we can stack some more things on there for him. It was nice to see him come in—[and] in one week, just get plugged in and make some plays. I was happy for him. A lot of that is innate. I think we got some guys that innately get their hands up. We got a couple guys with some length: Charles and Chris [Jones]. God gave them appendages that are going to help them do it. Both Jones and Omenihu have a wingspan that is over seven feet.
onejayhawk
As the defense continued to evolve, a couple of 2nd-year players--George KJarlaftis and Leo Chenal--were big against the Broncos. Everyone knows that when the offense turns the ball over five times the defense will get stressed. The defense was stressed but it didn't shatter. These two were a big part of that, not least because they both hit people. https://www.yardbarker.com/nfl/articles/chiefs_second_year_defender_was_silver_lining_in_week_8_loss/s1_17313_39468009 https://chiefswire.usatoday.com/2023/10/31/kansas-city-chiefs-leo-chenal-received-highest-pff-grade-week-8/
