Have you considered him at PG?

Yeah I have, and I also drafted 3 SGs. Either way I already simmed out the season and will see how he developed and how this draft goes before deciding if I will move him or not.

Darius Garland always seems to do well on this game. I am very disappointed that I didn't win ROY considering the play time, but oh well. Looking at the stats below, I don't think Otis is going to be a long term starter anyway.

Pretty bad and balanced. This isn't surprising as I didn't get any offensive stars this year, but still would have liked to see someone step up a bit. Not sure about this draft class yet, but any position is available still.

2023 Playoffs

The Atlanta hawks beat the Pelicans in the Finals 4-2. Trae Young was the Finals MVP.

Austin lost in the Western Finals in 7 games. Never seen an expansion team do this well.

This looks a little better than last year. Tyrone McCleod the one HOF worthy prospect - he has great size, passable quickness (53 LQUI and 70 SPD), and is a solid starter right away. He has solid badges (Dream Shake, Fast Twitch, Masher, Rise Up, Slithery) so he can hopefully score inside. This game is always seemingly full of good centers, but this is the clear #1.

Raymond Simpson is also a great player loaded with badges. He is a little undersized and has mediocre potential, so will probably not end up being the best of these PGs, but he will start off as one. He is a great shooter right away.

I don't really like either PGs Carney and Underwood as prospects - both will need years to be able to score, and they're both weak playmakers. They have 5 and 8 badges, but most of them are on defense. I don't really care about about defense first for Points.

Keon Webber is a bit of a weird prospect, I'm not sure why he's a 78. He is pretty mediocre across the board, but if young and has A potential. He starts out as an average defender at least, but SF Erik Caldwell just seems like a better prospect. He is a worse defender but has 4 shooting badges and is a similar athlete. Webber is a little bit faster and has 99 vert so he might end up a better inside scorer.

Lottery luck kicking you right in the nuts. You'll be picking high again next year though and no one really insane at the top. I'm actually enjoying these draft classes more than the other thread which seemingly has multiple all time great talents every draft.

I don't blame them, it's a lot of work to end up with 3 crap classes in a row and your team doesnt progress much. But my fingers are crossed for next year's lottery and class

I talked about these guys earlier in the season, but the only player I really want is likely going to go 1st, if not 2nd, in McCleod. The rest of the guys are more prospects than I'd like, but I am sure the game will make my decision for me. Let's sim to my pick and see what choices I have.

McCleod goes #1 to the Spurs. SF Keon Webber #2 to the Mavs. SF Erik Caldwell #3 to the Thunder, damn. I thought I was goign to get one of those 2. C Lamond Buford went #4, honestly I am not even really sure who that is. Could have been worse! My board looks like this.

Well I guess I am taking a PG. I am not in love with any of these guys, so really this is a projection for all of them. We have Simpson, who overall is the best athlete of the three and is most ready to start and score now. His B- potential blows though compated to A for the other two. He also has 5 shooting badges and 2 playmaking badges. Dusty and Lonnie are both 3 and D points, and most of their badges are in defense. Their offense is just bad. The only other player that interests me here is Griffith - he is a good scorer already and has 6 badges, all offensive. I just don't think I need to take another SG considering I drafted 3 last year unless he was clearly ahead of another position, which he isn't.

I think I am going to go against one of my biggest preferences here and take a lower potential player.

1.5 / PG / Raymond Simpson

6P4QAWi.jpg

He ended up being onlu 76, wow that blows. He does have B potential, so at least the scouts failed upwards there. Will have to check out the other two PGs to see how bad of a mistake I may have made.

Lonnie Carney went 9th to the Rockets and he has C+ potential??????

Dusty went 13 to the Mavericks and has B+, so I feel pretty good now! Prettayyyyyy, prettttayyyy, prettttttay good.

It is not really worth posting the players available here, there honestly isn't much. I might end up moving some of these 2nd round picks, but I will pick both of these 1st rounders.

1.22 / PG / Trevor Perry

mMbGWUz.jpg

1.25 / PF / JD Pierce

PthMeaq.jpg

Not thrilled with either of these, but Perry has B+ potential and JD Pierce has B and is young.  Perry has good potential to move to SG if he develops, with B+ mid range and A- 3P.

Pierce had the highest vert in the draft at 41 inches an is already a decent defender. I don't know if he will play at all this year, but I have nothing at PF, so he might.

2.1 / SF / Dustin Cooper-Dyke

wypLmS7.jpg

Holy smokes, I hadn't fully scouted this guy but it said he had B+ potential and is only 18 so I took a shot. Well he blows, but he has A potential, so I might stash him for a couple years and see if he turns into anything. Might be a cheap bench player for a long time. Also, awesome name.

I have 3 picks left, and honestly there isn't one player I want to draft. Let's try again in the future.

Player Options

The Solar Bears have accepted the options for the following players:

  • SG Bernie Gooden
  • C Jose Mendez
  • PG JD Turner
  • SG Wally Waters
  • SG Sammy Floyd
  • C Christian Kelly

This has me with 17 players on my roster, so I will have to make some cut downs. We will see if there are any rookies available in FA that are better than what's on my roster now.

We did not extend a qualifying offer to Malachi Flynn.

2024 Free Agency

There is absolutely no one worth signing, so let's see who threw out the big bucks.

I forgot to note down the potential of the players last year, so I will just start this going forward. Love to see the growth of JD Turner, unfortunately every badge he gained was defensive. He will still be my 6th man this coming year.

I think this does kind of kill the notion that Otis will be any good. No badges and a meager overall increase. He might b solid bench guy but isn't going to be someone I look to start in 2 years.

I need to cut 2 players, and based on the progression and roster spots, I think I will get rid of PF Jim Slaughter and PG Delgado. Hopefully I can get a couple picks for them.

2024 Season

There are still 0 CPU generated players in the top 25, so I don't see much of a point in posting them. I can go deeper into that once we have some fake people in there. I certainly have no players even close to top 25.

The plan is to be horrendous this year again and fingers crossed draft a franchise player. Let's get some playing time for these rookies.

Mid-Season Break

I am sitting at 21-36, which is tied for 5th worst record... not exactly what I was expecting or hoping for. I own the Spurs and Grizzlies picks - Spurs have 25 wins, and the Grizzlies are an easy playoff team. Let's hope for a disaster second half of the season.

Of course I had the Lakers pick last year and they are the worst team in the league.

Man this might be a long rebuild if you don’t get any lottery luck soon.

I was going to post the draft class at the mid year break but honestly it's so depressing I don't want to tonight anymore. I have the draft class quality set to 60, I will need to turn it up. Top player in this class is 78 ovr.
