Chiefer Posted December 14, 2023 Share Posted December 14, 2023 Chiefs have an accountability problem, they also have not moved past the Bills game or the late game theatrics that have been the talk of the sports/NfL world this week. I could very easily see an L against the Patriots, I hope they prove me wrong, but Belicheck has a great defense and they’re playing inspired football for the old Ball Coach as of late with Zappe Brannigan at QB. Considering Mahomes' well-documented competitive side, I expect nothing less than exceptional focus on the team at hand. Donovan Smith has a 1 year, $3 million contract that I suspect will not be renewed after this season. Joe Thune's contract is one of the highest for an OG in the NFL. Cutting ties with Thune after this season (cutting him after the post-June 1st designation) would save the Chiefs $16 million in each of the next 2 seasons according to Spotrac. I see a lot of early 2024 Mock drafts having the Chiefs go OT with their 1st round pick, and everyone knows we need more WR help. In any event, it will be a different OL next year.
