That means there won’t be anything happening with Cousins and the Vikings after the new league year because, again, the Vikings aren’t going to take the $28.5 million dead cap hit and pay Cousins a hefty salary on top of that. Which is what I've said for a few weeks now. If the extension isn't signed before the 13th, he's not returning period.

Captain Relax
So, I have evolved into the notion that the Vikings probably should move on from Kirk. It's time to make a move for the QBOTF. That being said, where does Kirk fit other than the Vikings? With Russell Wilson costing a new team practically nothing...Justin Fields, who still has a year on his rookie contract...other, less expensive, more mobile QBs who can buy teams time before they get a QBOTF, not to mention 4 or 5 QBs available in the first round...where does a 36 year old EXPENSIVE, non-mobile, coming off of a torn Achilles tendon, fit? Now, I don't think Kirk will get frozen out...however, Minnesota IS the best fit for his talents. No other team comes close to having the playmaker on offense AND an offensive line that at least knows what a passing pocket is!! Am I wrong? Os there a better place among QB needy teams? SemperFeist
Atlanta is likely the best situation for Cousins, outside of Minnesota.
vike daddy
i'll guess that outside of Minny, Kirko doesn't consider more than two other teams as potential destinations.

Atlanta's receivers, while VERY good, are not at the same level as JJ, Addy, and Hock. Atlanta's playmakers have a lot of potential and would be very attractive to Kirk. The Falcons ability to run the ball is superior to Minnesotas. However, what might give Kirk pause is the Falcons oline is significantly worse than the Vikings in pass protection. SemperFeist
There’s maybe 8 teams that could look to add Cousins. Minnesota, Washington, NY Giants, Atlanta, Pittsburgh, New England; Las Vegas, and Denver. Of those 8, Denver and the Giants are likely out due to cost. I can’t see Cousins wanting to go to Washington or New England given their poor rosters. That leaves Minnesota, Atlanta, Pittsburgh, and Las Vegas. Minnesota, Atlanta, and Las Vegas are indoor teams, with strong offensive weapons. It’s not a long list for suitable destinations for Cousins. But it only takes one. And I could definitely see Pierce and Morris wanting to start their tenures with a strong veteran presence at QB. But the question is whether Kirk wants his family in a place they call Sin City. 🤣

Which is at least 20% more than Atlanta, Pittsburgh, and Vegas, in my opinion.
