A lot of 2007/2008 were before I watched players. I relied heavily on draft magazines or this website or WalterFootball when I was in high school. I have to say though looking through every player of every round going back to ‘07, I have a great track record overall. Here are the misses that I was WAY wrong on either thinking they would be so much better or I didn’t see them being as good as they became. I assure you that despite all the awful misevaluations or wrong instincts based off non-evaluations in the earliest years, I have a LOT more accurate evaluations and hidden gems than awful busts or missed opportunities.

* = much better than I thought

I'm sure i've missed some big ones.  And obviously excluded guys that i was absolutely convinced would suck, who turned out to be superstars.  lol.

WR: DaeSean Hamilton, Rashad Greene, Ryan Switzer.
WR: Greg Childs, Cody Latimer.
TE: Ian Thomas, Troy Niklas.
LT: TJ Clemmings, Martez Ivey.
LG: Jonathan Cooper.
OC: Billy Price, Weston Richburg.
RG: Danny Watkins.
RT: Jason Spriggs.

EDGE: Noah Spence, Jeremiah Attaochu.
DE: Jaylon Ferguson.
DT: Taven Bryan, Robert Nkemdiche, Gabe Wright.
NT: Jay Bromley.
DT: Dominique Easley, Will Sutton.
EDGE: Quincy Roche, Eli Harold, Chris Smith.
LB: Malik Jefferson, Sean Porter.

CB: Johnthan Banks, Sidney Jones.
FS: Obi Melifonwu, Ed Reynolds.
SS: Johnathan Abram, Karl Joseph.
CB: Darqueze Dennard, Blidi Wreh-Wilson.

Some pretty clear themes in certain areas.  😆   Also, certain programs that seem disproportionately represented.  lol.

Also some guys included who weren't even drafted where it's hard to "bust", but included because i had them as strong Day3 draftable talent at the time, and they amounted to approximately nothing at all.

This oughtta be fun. The Lions and WRs are so much worse than people even know.

Lions;

Owner- Male Fords
GM -  Matt Millen
Coach- Matt Patricia/Marty Mornhinweg/Rod Marinelli
OC- Joe Lombardi. Easy.
DC-Donnie Henderson/Joe Barry/Paul Pasqualoni

QB- Andre Ware/Joey Harrington
RB- Kevin Jones. Kevin Smith. Michael LeShoure. Jahvid Best. Ameer Abdulla. Kerryon Johnson
WR- Mike Williams. Charles Rogers. Titus Young. Ryan Broyles. Mark Nichols. John Ford. Roy Williams (not as bad) Maybe Jameson Williams?
TE- Brandon Pettigrew. Eric Ebron.
OT- Gosder Cherilus. Aaron Gibson. Lions have hit decently at OT.
OG- Laken Tomlinson, Logan Stenberg
C- Travis Swanson

EDGE - Reggie Rogers! Ziggy Ansah. Ikaika Alama-Francis, Kalimba Edwards, Jared DeVries,
DT- Levi Onwuzurike, Nick Fairly, Shaun Cody
LB - Jahlani Tavai (in Detroit), Kyle Van Noy (In Detroit) Jarrad Davis, Jordan Dizon (one of the biggest reaches in draft history), Ernie Sims, Boss Bailey, Barrett Green
CB- Jeff Okudah, Teez Tabor, Amari Spievey, Bryant Westbrook, Kevin Abrams
S- Daniel Bullocks I guess? Injury.

Lions don't appear to have busted hard at guard safety, but the reality is that they drafted out of position and switched guys around... THEN they busted. Our favorite move is to draft a slow corner and unsuccesfully convert them to safety.

Same girl. I thought Rashad Greene was gonna be a stud muffin. He was not even a dud muffin. He was a dud shart.

I was so stoked when the Jaguars snagged him where they did.  Thought it was an absolutely huge steal.  😆

He's one of those ones though, where i'm not even entirely sure what specifically went wrong.  A lot of those whiffs, it's pretty clear what i missed in retrospect.  But with Greene, i guess it was just sorta...one of those guys who was "pretty good at everything" but not "great at anything"?  Still kind of weird to me that he didn't at least catch on as a solid long term WR3 type.

I was very much considering throwing Kenneth Murray on mine.  I thought he was going to be such a stud.  But i left him off for some bigger whiffs at LBer.  Guys who didn't even become...serviceable long-term starters.  He was so dynamic in college though.  One of those ones where i'm not really sure why he hasn't translated tbh.

I feel like we also share a weakness for Florida players who bust.  For no apparent reason.  For me it's more the trenches guys and dudes in the box.  But same difference.  Sketchy, misleading school imo.  It's not us, it's Florida.  lol.

I don't know that Babin was even really a miss.  He had some darn productive years as a wide 9 sort of pass rush specialist.  Basically the opposite of Clowney, who is obviously a huge bust relative to expectations...but has actually carved out a halfway decent career for himself as the opposite of a pass rush specialist.  Which i don't think anybody really saw coming.  lol.

Keith Rivers, a late 00's 1st round USC LB; most noteable for having his jaw broken by a Hines Ward crack-back block.

Playboy is a throwback to when a FootballsFuture user, who was obsessed with Keith Rivers, called other users "playboy."
