You absolutely cannot ook at Lawrence's performance in a vacuum outside of that obvious context. It's been night and day. He's going to be a good QB for a very long time and we still don't know what his ceiling could be. Flourish? You're kidding, right? The wins and losses are middling at best, he's incredibly mistake prone, and he literally had more INTs amd fumbles than TDs last year. Even his banner year of 2022 saw him with 30 tds and 20 ints/fumbles. That isn't Urb's fault. And it certainly isn't "flourishing".

The Jaguars have been god awful for years and he came into one of the worst situations for a #1 pick ever. They've become competitive over the last two years. Need to get him some real weapons in the passing game.

And that was 3 years ago and other QBs have been stuck in worse situations for far longer and fared better than he has, especially given everyone is still trying to give him a pass because of his college hype. His coach for like 14 weeks was an amateur douchecanoe who kicked a kicker and partied with chicks half his age. He doesn't get a pass in 2023/2024 for Urban Meyer being a tool from January to December of 2021. He was the ballyhooed prospect nobody was allowed to criticize, he should be better than 25 tds and 26 ints/fumbles in his 3rd season as a starter, regardless of who his supporting cast is. Watching Russ run away from Derek Watt and Myles Garrett next year is going to be incredibly entertaining. I give him 9 weeks before they yank him for Pick-it

Danny Dimes, Justin Herbert, CJ Stroud has a nobody cast around him, Mac Jones himself had old man Bill and Matt Patricia as his OC to name a few. Each has played on par or overall better than Lawrence has to-date. Josh Allen has had Ken Dorsey and Sean McDermott idiocy to deal with amd has has virtually no run support and only Stephon Diggs to throw to...when he actually shows up. AOC was significantly less mistake-prone despite getting virtually no attention or preparation until our moron HC and his sycophantic OC were fired and he was thrown into the fire with a noob OC and interim HC to deal with. Jared Goff's turnaround was a heck.of alot quicker, yet we've been told Doug P is a great offensive mind too. Old Jeff Fisher was about as incompetent a HC as Urb was when it came the actual job at that point. Trevor Lawrence's performance last season was closer to a full season of Gardmer Minshew's year in Indianapolis with an anemic run game and banged up WR corps than the QBs that he is, allegedly, a peer to as someone "flourishing", "oozing upside and untapped potential", and a lock to "be a very good QB in the NFL for a long time to come". TL was supposed to be the best QB prospect since Andrew Luck. He’s been mid. As mentioned before, the Jaguars have a huge decision. Do they extend TL that will take up their cap space or trade him. TL is not good enough to make up for the lack of salary cap space that QB extensions take on Edited March 11 by bucksavage1
