MOCK DRAFTABLE - LIONS VS 2024 PROSPECTS

I have been hearing quite a bit about this site, Mock Draftable, and its player comparison tool. This is quite similar to the now Google Sheets project that I've been doing the last several years (maybe close to 10?). It can be a bit hit-and-miss since they'll sometimes compare a guy who is 280 lbs to a guy that's 260 lbs in the same role.

However, I thought this would be a good exercise to see how some current Lions and some former Lions (leading to team needs) match up against the 2024 class. I'm going to skip some positions like QB and RB (probably come back to them later) as we're more likely to invest assets into other positions.

If there aren't comparables, I'll write NA (not applicable). Possibly throw in some other comps, especially for younger players.

One of those is not like the others, lol.

How are these comps made?  Some seem solid but others are odd IMO.

It's 100% based on measurables - height, weight, 40, bench, etc.

No stock should ever be put into player comps. They very VERY rarely ever turn out to be remotely accurate.

Everyone does it, in some capacity. Even NFL guys or former NFL guys like Daniel Jeremiah and Bucky Brooks. It just helps as a descriptor and puts things into context. All of this stuff is just projection anyway.

I think comparisons are just another tool.

I saw a recent video with Jeremiah and Brooks speaking on this. It's even used when talking to coaches (and as a scout with your GM) to help in positioning who this player is and how they'll help your team.

Hester and Chase are like twins. That is very odd comparison for sure

True. However those comparisons are usually to players they see similarities between when watching them play.  Not what I see above

It's going to come from different measurables - could be 40 time, 3 Cone, Shuttle, etc. They will say it's by %
