2024 NFL Draft Day 2 Discussion Thread

I guess this is basically my Big Board for the next two picks. Mostly just remaining guys I like that I think we should be considering somewhere in the 2nd. I’d be down for a trade-down (probably from 40) if the opportunity presented itself.

IOL Jackson Powers-Johnson: I don’t know why he’s fallen down the board. I think he’s a badass. Very young, very good athlete, elite performer in his one season as a starter. Would immediately start at LG in my mind and eventually take over at C.

WR Ladd McConkey: Sue me, I’ve wanted him for 3 years. I don’t know if he can stay healthy, but if he can, he’s about as sure a bet to be a high-end WR2 as you’ll ever see.

CB Cooper DeJean: This dude is a weapon to give Quinn and Whitt. I really think they could find lots of ways to move him around and make plays, although there’s probably some crossover between him and Quan.

CB Kool-Aid McKinstry: Always felt like he was overrated, because he plays for Alabama and he has a fun name and all that. But now I think there’s been a little overcorrection. He’s a pretty good corner.

WR Troy Franklin: He has a lot of different pieces that you like for a Daniels/Kingsbury offense. He’s an excellent deep ball target, carrying (in my opinion) Bo Nix to some pretty shiny deep throw metrics. He also has a nice speed/height combination and some nice releases, which I think could set him up to be effective working the sidelines and the crossers that Jayden likes to throw.

WR Roman Wilson: He’s kind of just slightly poorer man’s Ladd. He was always getting open for Michigan, they used him in a lot of different ways, and you’d see him win at every level. He frequently delivered in the big moments for them, and I think his game is a nice fit with the types of throws that Jayden excels with.

WR Adonai Mitchell: He’d probably be the #1 WR on my list if it weren’t for the concerns about his diabetes and related attitude/effort issues. You can see the inconsistent effort on the field at times — though some of it may also be his effort to have tempo and pacing in his routes.

DT Jer’Zhan Newton: Not a need, I agree in advance. Sometimes a player is just too much of a value to pass on for lesser talents at more needed positions. He’s a really impactful penetrator and disruptor, and I think he’s the kind of player Quinn wants in the middle of his attacking DL.

OT Kingsley Suamataia: I dunno. He’s a big talented dude. I know people who like his upside as an athlete. He has reps where you see the power and everything else click. I don’t think he was that good for BYU (or Oregon). But somebody has to be able to play OT.

OG Christian Haynes: This is a guy I really like if the goal is to create an OL that will be athletic and mobile and do a lot of pulling/reaching. He’s got a good first step, quick feet, and a lot of torque to turn guys and create gaps. I thought he showed up really well against the stronger competition they played against.

DE Chris Braswell: If they’re looking for a guy with a little burst and bend, he’s probably the best option out there at the moment. I’m not sold on him being the freak Quinn is looking for, though, which is why he’s pretty far down the board for me still.

DE Marshawn Kneeland: I just like how damned physical he is, he brutalizes the guys blocking him. Reminds me of the sort of strong side end that Seattle used to enjoy rolling out. I don’t know that he has the bend or quick twitch to be a major pass-rusher, but he’s a damn tone-setter.

The ones in BOLD are who I would take at 36 or 40.

Having said that? I also wouldn't mind a trade down from 36 to a later 2nd. That could net us an additional 3rd Rd pick in value. (Another top 100 player)

I would keep pick 40 & stay there. Select who I have in BOLD above.

J. Morgan was selected by the Packers. I corrected it on my list.

Welp, he is the most dialed in……..

He said Rosengarten and Jared Wiley in the second. So we'll see how it goes. He said if they don't go Wiley they like Cade Stover a lot as well.
