Like, we got some cool players since then, but the overall feeling of each offseason was either marred by Trey Lance/Jimmy G discourse, contract disputes, or Purdy's elbow. I agree. Last year was the QB non-competition. Remember the reports about Trey Lance being the starter? Good times. The year before was Trey all day! Then a surprise Jimmy G. That was weird too. 22 was Deebo's contract. You are absolutely right. Three offseason rodeos in a row. The "vibes" weren't the best last offseason either and we started the season like gangbusters. Trent needs to sign over the weekend and if he does, then we should be fine like usual.

The funniest thing about this situation is the 49ers being upset at getting offered 2nd day compensation for Aiyuk then calling around trying to find a suitable replacement for 2nd day compensation

Ghosting them after giving them an insulting offer surely is going to provide dividends!" Also, leading up to that May offer. TecmoSuperJoe
Cleveland offer is still pretty insane. 49ers definitely take that deal, but of course Aiyuk wasn't going there. Oh well.
straighthate
Aiyuk’s comments today tell me I was 100% right. Purposely made it hard, said offer was pretty much good a month ago but he played it out. Not okay at all. Knowingly was a distraction and didn’t get the reps in the team needed. Game of chicken and the Niners lost. Should have said every preseason game you miss the offer drops. I frickin love watching what these guys can do on the field. I don’t love ownership either, but I think either the players or their agents are just ruining the game. As a kid who idolized guys like Lott, Rice, and Montana, it’s tough to find guys today that I feel are team first like that. Willis, Staley, Gore, Alex Smith… loved those guys attitude on that team as well. Now Kittle, Purdy (so far), Juice, Warner? I’m good with trying to get paid, but it’s how you handle it. At least publicly the team should come first even while you’re trying to get paid.
