The Chiefs have expanded their lead and quarterback Patrick Mahomes has a franchise record.

On Kansas City’s latest possession, Mahomes passed Hall of Famer Len Dawson for the most passing yards in franchise history.

Dawson’s previous mark was 28,507.

jeez, Len Dawson holds their record? he goes back 50 years or more.

i guess they haven't had any long term QB's in that stretch.

I think Alex Smith might have been the 3rd or 4th longest tenured KC WB.

It didn’t take long for Chiefs rookie receiver Xavier Worthy to make an impact. The man who ran the fastest ever 40-yard dash at the scouting combine took an end around 21 yards for a touchdown, evening the score between Baltimore and Kansas City at 7-7.

It was the first touch of Worthy’s professional career.

The Chiefs traded up to select Worthy at No. 28 overall after he ran a 4.21 40-yard dash.

EDIT: and as i typed that, he catches his second NFL pass for a 35 yard TD.

Touchdown Chiefs
(10:32) (Shotgun) P.Mahomes pass deep right to X.Worthy for 35 yards, TOUCHDOWN.
2nd & 10 at BAL 35

Sometimes it just looks like Jackson doesn’t see the field well. He creates so much chaos, and it’s not always positive.

Lamar Jackson is a different animal at QB.  He's super exciting to watch. I don't think he would be a very good QB without his mobility. However, he has his mobility.

No, in-between it seemed like they were taking the Denny Green route of QBs.   If you start from 1990, they went from DeBerg to Dave Krieg to Joe Montana to former Viking Steve Bono to Grbac to Trent Green to Brodie Croyle to Matt Cassel to Alex Smith.  Only Dawson has played more games in a Chiefs uniform than Mahomes.

That's really where the Vikings and Chiefs franchises have really been similar, up until now.  Who knows, maybe McCarthy can be that guy (he doesn't have to be Mahomes, although that would be nice).

I disagree that he wouldn’t be very good without his mobility. In fact, I think he might be a better pure QB without his running, provided he maintains average athleticism and not Bledsoe-esque mobility. When Jackson is forced to work from within the pocket like a traditional QB, we’ve seen him be very, very effective over the years.

It’s kind of a double edged sword. Jackson’s mobility is what makes him unique and very dangerous, but at the same time I think it’s his high level of mobility that prevents him from being even more effective as a passer.

Last nights game was almost a perfect example of this because you could watch and compare Mahomes on the other side. Mahomes is also very mobile, but when you watch him move, he’s always keeping his shoulders in a position to throw the ball downfield. And that’s why we get so much “Mahomes Magic”. Jackson, on the other hand, tends to spin and turn and run in random directions to escape pressure, then he needs to re-establish his platform to throw. This leads to a lot of throws that are late, or off target.

The last play was another good example of this. Jackson completely turned around in the pocket. Had he stayed square with the LOS while avoiding the pressure, he may have been able to get the ball out quicker, leaving his target with more space in the endzone.

This is just sad. Likely was clearly out, even if it was by a small distance. Out is out.

"I didn't think it was enough evidence to overturn it," Smith said. "But I feel like that'll be something that the refs will have to deal with whenever that time comes and that's out of my control."

It was fun to watch Lamar scramble around last night but I can't imagine 16 carries/game is sustainable. That's on pace for 272 carries this season. I was a little surprised that Henry only got 13 carries.

Worthy looks like he could be in for an electric rookie season.
