Packers fire DC Dom Capers

Won't miss him. Helped bring the zone blitz to the NFL, and was successful for a while, but the scheme feeds off confusing bad/young QBs. Probably why we were always good against Chicago lol.

But when you don't have a secondary that can hold up for 3 seconds while those blitzes hit home, you don't get far. The amount of draft capital we've spent on defense the last 5 years has been ridiculous for the defenses we've fielded. Hopefully the new guy can make use of them

It will be really nice if Rodgers could get a top 10 defense for the second time in his career.

can I just say that I love your avatar. Kurt Russell has the best hair in the world.

Yeah, when a HC is in trouble, somebody has to be made the scapegoat before the HC, himself, gets the axe!!!

It is just a signal that if GB does not make a serious SB run next year, McCarthy will be next!!!

Many solid teams use a pecking order to placate their fans, first the Coordinators, followed by the HC and finally the GM, sometimes 2 or even 3 can all go at the same time, but usually the coordinators are the first to feel the knife.

McCarthy is not in danger of anything. If friggin Gruden can get 10yrs $100 million I can't even imagine what MM would fetch on a starved market...

There are only a couple coaches better than him right now in the league. He is a critical part of the GM selection process right now, and you can rest assured his opinion carries a LOT of weight because losing him would be an immediate downgrade.

When a defense is ranked near the bottom of the league for several years running usually the DC gets the axe.  McCarthy runs the offense and when we have competent QB play (let alone elite play with #12) our offenses are consistently in the top 10.
