Ya so now let's spend a pick when we just did on roberts...what the hell  they/you looking for.. If we spend a pick on a te before rd 5 I'm gonna flip

Btw you didn't answer the question.

Will Wilson and roberts out produce one Ebron next yr

Well I don't work for the Lions, so whatever they choose to do has nothing to do with me. I like what Mark Andrews and some of the other guys have to offer. Jonnu Smith was drafted in the 3rd round by the Titans last year. His cap hit is $755,000. If we have an extra pick, I would gladly take a guy that we might consider to be the next Kelce or Ertz at 1/10th the cost of Ebron's contract for the next 4 years.

Production: Yards? Probably not. TD's - equal to or superior to Ebron. The yards will get more split between the rushing game improving and Golloday taking a bigger step forward.

Two very different off seasons

Yes but the Rams also don't have an established veteran QB at $25M+ salary on the books. Goff has a $7.6M cap hit this year. That's a lot of extra cash lying around for them to spend. However, it's short term and they'll have to reconstruct the roster.

We still had the same money if we don't franchise ansah

We can't make trades..? churn your roster instead of your depth

So we lose one of our best guys (arguably) on the chance that we might be able to bring in a few other guys with that money? When we have a pretty substantial hole there already?

When making trades, there are things that have to be considered: do we have assets that we can give up that other teams want? Will this move open up other holes for us (if we were to trade someone like Glover Quin for example); is the other team willing to take on the salary of a traded player? (Ebron's salary was untradeable, hence why BQ didn't trade him); can we replace these guys with similar or better players at similar or better cash values? Will this move make us a better team?

When Bob Quinn came in he talked a lot about wanting to improve the overall quality of the roster, especially depth. Great teams have the ability to overcome all of the obstacles every team faces. You can lose a key guy and have someone else step in because you've built the team correctly.

Here's a example.. we could of traded for peters and not signed Lawson shead or wilson.. is that really strong enough depth not to do it...? Then get Mathieus..

Sure we lose a second but if you want it back bad enough there are ways

So we trade a 2nd round pick to get Peters, who is a great player but a bit of a headache. Who is nearing the end of his rookie deal and will likely command $10M - $15M in the next year or two.

That kind of move either wins you a Super Bowl or gets you fired. It's also VERY short term.

The Rams are going all in because they know they have an exceptionally small window to play the game like this. They have a decent QB at an exceptionally reasonable rate; they have a stud RB on his rookie contract; Aaron Donald is also on his rookie contract. This whole thing is going to get blown up in two years. Gurley, Goff and Donald will all need to get paid (whether in LA or traded elsewhere). They did a good job in the draft and building the team. They're adding a few more expensive options in order to get themselves to the next level.

Second rd pick guarantees you nothing you should know your a lions fan...bet your *** I'll take a probowl level talent young over a unknown.. If you can't resign him you know you can trade him

Even the comp pick you prolly get a 3rd

The whole point in bringing in people from another organization is because what you/they have been doing hasn't worked. The Patriots have had an abundance of success. 2nd round picks (or any pick for that matter) don't guarantee anything. Having several picks = diversification = better chance to hit on more players = better team = more wins. You need good roster management, good FA signings and solid scouting. Keeping bad players/losing good players, overpaying FA's and making bad draft picks will help you wind up watching the game in a bar with the rest of us.

Quinn said himself he wants to gain picks..is a 2nd that big? Didn't they get back a 4th too..so by your line of thinking they didn't lose a draft pick this yr (maybe a low 20!9) either way not that hard to get back

I can't think of a bad trade we had in the past just the players taken

(STATS FROM SPOTRACT)The bolded portions are the ones that Detroit has a higher cap hit than LA. QB is huge. We are near the top of the league for cap hit at QB and they're near the bottom at one of the highest paid positions. 16.21% of cap vs 6.19% of cap is a considerable difference. We have a decent amount of money invested in our passing game. Even after losing Ebron our TE cap hit is still a bit higher. We're near even on LB and OL. Suh probably pushes their DL just over us but not by a ton. We have a ton of money invested in the RB spot and we aren't getting the production out of it.
