I am pretty torn on five players.

1. Moore - but I don't really want to draft a WR early. I doubt the impact will be there.

2. LVE - I think we will run a ton of 3 LBer sets. Plus if Lee or Smith get injured we still have competent starters.

3. Davenport - he is raw, but imagine the passrush we could get with him and Gregory. Law could freely walk next year.

4. Bryan - also, raw. But if Rod can coach him up? Whew!

5. Hurst - see the comment about Bryan. Hurst with Rod? Whew!

We wont run many 3 linebacker formations. Byron at corner enables this team to play nickel spots and still cover the run. For a safety, he was not a good tackler. For an inside corner on the nick or manned up on a TE? Hes a good tackler.

That said, a defensive unit who cant cover from their base alignment is doomed to fail. Playaction all day.

I think, as is the normal, you will see both nick and base hover around a 50/50, or 60/40 (favoring nickel) split, with dime coming into play fairly sparingly.

We don't even really need a WR.

Well, not yet anyway. I think WR is sets up much like LB. FA coming and Hurns and Lee are both injury prone.  Better odds of getting a serviceable LB in rds 3-4 than WR, imo at least.
