  1. What if Baker is out for 5 Weeks and going 2-3 or 3-2 over that stretch is required to pursue the Playoffs at the end of the year? What becomes of the winning mentality of the rest of the team when they know the Back-up QB can't help the team compete to win? Drew Stanton is not it. We have to go out and get a solid to strong backup QB that can help us grind out some wins.
  2. An NFL Team is often only as good as it's backup Quarterback. Back-up QBs often are tasked with stabilizing the season from a win-loss perspective keeping a team in the playoff hunt in the event that a QB1 is unavailable for an extended period of time, helping sustain belief and the continued development of an Offense and its skill players, and pushing the QB1 up the latter of greatness. We have to find a QB2 behind Baker to protect this team and our long-term team success/playoff chances. Who will that QB be for us? -------------------------------- The following 5 teams are likely to be in the QB1 market: 1.) Giants 2.) Washington 3.) Broncos 4.) Jaguars 5.) Dolphins --------------------------- The Following 14 QBs will be Unrestricted Free Agents Via Being Cut/Released or Based on Contract Necessitating UFA Status: Tier 1 1.) Nick Foles 2.) Joe Flacco 3.) Tyrod Taylor 4.) Ryan Tannehill 5.) Case Keenum 6.) Teddy Bridgewater 7.) Ryan Fitzpatrick Tier 2 8.) Trevor Siemian 9.) Blake Bortles 10.) Brett Hundley 11.) Robert Griffin III 12.) Mike Glennon 13.) Brock Osweiler 14.) Sam Bradford (Might Retire due to Knee issues at any time) -------------------------- We wont' be in on the Flacco, Taylor, Bridgewater, and Tannehill QB1 sweepstakes. My top target's are Case Keenum (unrealistic), Trevor Siemian, or Ryan Fitzpatrick.
  3. I wish we could get pass rusher, but if they don't exist (and they don't really in my mind) then there are better options at other positions to acquire potential impact players. Outside of Bosa, Ferrell, and maybe Brian Burns I see the 43 DEs as JAGs.
  4. My latest mock from walkthemock.com for CLE via Default ranking 1:13 - WR D.K. Metcalf, Mississippi 2:13 - CB Amani Oruwariye, Penn St. 3:13 - TE Albert Okwuegbunam, Missouri 3:29 - WR Marquise Brown, Oklahoma 4:13 - DL Gerald Willis III, Miami (FL) 5:6 - LB Shaquille Quarterman, Miami (FL) 5:13 - TE Irv Smith Jr., Alabama 5:29 - NT Olive Sagapolu, Wisconsin 6:13 - FB George Aston, Pittsburgh 7:2 - QB Trace McSorley, Penn St. 7:22 - RB Taiwan Deal, Wisconsin --------------- Did one, but like always these things seem not so realistic with their rankings. Would be a great draft if we were able to make these first 7 picks
  5. lol.. no joke .. I thought this was a general Mock/Offseason thread.... Read the OP and now realize that's a website... I'll check it out
  6. Off-Season: Part I. Free Agency 1.) WR Chris Conley: Coming out of college, he was one of the most gifted athletes at WR to set foot at the combine. His film and upside was only slightly less impressive. His abilities were suppressed by Alex Smith's inability to deliver targets down the field. The year Smith started to do so, Conley had a serious knee injury. He has a lot of AJ Green to his game in that he's can be a jump ball specialist or stretch the field. If he can return to form and health, he has WR1 ability but would make for a great WR2/WR1/Slot WR interchangeable piece based on personnel groupings. Conley is recovering from a knee injury and is under utilized in the chiefs offense as Tyreek Hill, Travis Kelce, Sammy Watkins, and Kareem Hunt get the targets in the passing game. Dorsey's familiarity with him make this a great match in terms of our need and how his game fits in with the roster. 2.) DE Brandon Graham 3.) CB Steven Nelson 4.) QB Trevor Siemian 5.) TE Maxx Williams ---- Part II. The Draft 1.) Amani Orunwariye CB Penn State 2.) (Likely Trade Back into Bottom of the 1st) DK Metcalf WR Ole Miss // AJ Brown WR Ole Miss 3.) Christian Wilkins, DT Clemson // Gerald Willis III, DT Miami (FL) -- Both of these guys are likely to fall to the top of the 3rd for a wide-variety of reasons. Wilkins to most is the most unbelievable b/c people are seeing his name in the 1st and 2nd round of mocks; however, scouts have him more realistically in the mid-second to early 3rd range. 3.) T.J. Hockenson TE Iowa // Albert Okwuegbunana TE Missouri 4.) Emmanuel Hall WR Missouri 5.) Shaquille Quarterman LB, Miami (FL) 5.) Joe Bachie Jr., LB Mich. State 5.) Renell Wren, DT ASU 6.) Best RB Available 7.) BPA ------------------------- ------------------------ 2019 Roster Preview (Unbalanced & With No Cuts) Offense (?): Quarterbacks (3): QB: Baker Mayfield // Trevor Siemian // Drew Stanton ------------ Running Backs (3): RB: Nick Chubb // Duke Johnson // Devante Mays ------------ Fullback (1): FB: Orson Charles ------------ Wide Receivers (8): WR1: DK Metcalf // Emmanuel Hall // Antonio Callaway WR2: Chris Conley // Rashard Higgins // Breshad Perriman // Damion Ratley Slot-WR: Jarvis Landry // (Duke Johnson) Practice Squad: Derrick Willies ------------ Tight Ends (4): TE: David Njoku // T.J. Hockenson // Darren Fells // Maxx Williams ------------ Offensive Linemen (8): LT: Greg Robinson // (Desmond Harrison) LG: Joel Bitonio // (Austin Corbett) C: JC Tretter // Austin Corbett RG: Kevin Zeitler // Earl Watford // Kyle Kalis RT: Chris Hubbard // (Greg Robinson) ------------------------- Defense (?): Defensive linemen (10): DE: Myles Garrett // (Brandon Graham) // Chad Thomas // Chris Smith NT: Larry Ogunjobi // Carl Davis // Renell Wren DT: Christian Wilkins // Brian Price // (Chad Thomas as 3-Tech) // (Anthony Zettel) DE: Emmanuel Ogbah // (Genard Avery) // Brandon Graham // Anthony Zettel ------------ Linebackers (8): SLB: Christian Kirksey // Joe Bachie Jr. // Genard Avery MLB: Joe Schobert // (Joe Bachie Jr) // Ray Ray Armstrong WLB: Shaquille Quaterman // Tanner Vallejo ------------ Corner Backs (7): CB1: Denzel Ward // (Damarious Randall) // Tavierre Thomas CB2: Amani Orunwariye // Terrance Mitchell // E.J. Gaines NCB: Steven Nelson // (Briean Boddy-Calhoun) ------------ Free Safeties (2): FS: Damarious Randall // Briean Boddy-Calhoun ------------ Strong Safeties (2): SS: Jabrill Peppers // Derrick Kindred ------------ Specialists (?): Kicker (2): New Kicker Punter (1):Britton Colquitt; Long snapper (1):Charley Hughlett
  7. @NudeTayne Here's my 1st rounders and such thus far until I get a chance to dive back into prospect review as the holiday and days off approaches.
  8. There were those that thought the trade looked like crap then... mostly b/c the analytics said the Nets would finish outside of the top 7 worst teams based on roster composition and schedule. Others also thought so b/c IT's hip issue severity was not widely known by the public or media at the time. "Everybody and their mama thought the nets would be horrible." just simply is not true... as all the analytics predicted the Nets would have a pick in the 7-9 range due to having the 7-9th predicted worst record. These metrics took into account a wide variety of factors... and by the way this was all before the Nets best player Jeremy Lin went out with a season ending injury... if he didn't the pick most certainly would've been worse. Those who thought the Nets would be terrible simply were asleep at the wheel or don't follow the NBA enough to know how truly awful and empty the roster were at the beginning of the season. It was not really about tanking... that affected teams in the top 5's ordering... but was not mainly responsible for where the Nets pick fell as the Nets pick was consistently around pick 6-9 all year except for a brief moment mid-season.
  9. Sexton is not transcendent... and has major deficiencies... doesn't have great court vision, some poor decision making as a passer, and shot deficiencies, but he was the best player available imo based on competitive fire, work ethic, and defensive dominance ability. His penetration ability and slashing scoring will be top 5 in a few years.. He's a culture changer and leader. Good pick. The Kyrie Irving trade when it was announced was one of the worst trades ever (I thought it then when ppl were celebrating the trade as if the Cavs did well).... In effect we traded Kyrie Irving for Ante Zizic, Jordan Clarkson, Rodney Hood, and Colin Sexton. We traded our own 1st for Larry Nance Jr., Jae Crowder for Rodney Hood, the Isaiah Thomas contract was swapped for Jordan Clarkson's. Quantity doesn't equal quality especially when it comes to the NBA. It was and is still a really awful trade.... I don't want to hear about the reports about him getting surgery as a threat and blah blah... we had 2 years of control left on his contract... at 24-25 not even at his peak he scored 41 on 17 for 24 shooting in a finals game and followed that up with hitting the biggest, ice in your veins, cold blooded, high degree of difficulty shot in game 7 of the NBA finals.... arguably the greatest shot in NBA history given what was riding on it... he's an offensive wizard... I wish Lebron well on whatever he wants to do with his life and family. Appreciate the championship... Firing David Griffin (the GM that put it all together and just helped us get a championship) was the moment that Lebron was officially out of the door.... the mess that ensued was Dan Gilbert doing what Dan Gilbert does...
  10. lol... exactly... he shoots 3's and is a threat on offense... and actually a better shot blocker / rim protector as well...
  11. Sexton, Walker, Carter, and Simons will all be better pros than Porter. Porter with the back issues is too risky to select especially b/c he is also a narrow base shooter and will struggle to consistently shot make at high percentage in the pros without a lot of work, give no defensive effort, has a diva attitude, doesn't commit to working at the game, gets defeated when down big and won't fight back in games.... Anyone but Shai Gilgeous Alexander... and I'm cool, but really anyone but SGA and Porter, Knox, Bridges, and I think we'll be okay with the selection...
  12. Baker at 1.... Denzel at 4... shout out to the b.i.l.... the real MVP....
  13. The worst pick we could make is Shae Gilgeous Alexander... not explosive, doesn't have high basketball IQ to orchestrate an offense, no defensive fire despite great length, can't shoot, not a strong handle.... So, knowing Dan Gilbert... that will probably be the pick. Assuming Doncic, Bamba, Bagley, Ayton, Trae, Jackson Jr., Porter Jr. are off the board.... Based on their tape and projection of skills, we should take: 1. Colin Sexton, 2. Lonnie Walker, 3. Wendell Carter, 4. Anfernee Simons, or 5. Miles Bridges in that order... Walker is the most underrated player in the draft as he will become a 37% or better 3 point shooter in the league, has the IQ and handle to play PG, elite defensive effort, elite athleticism, competitive fire second to only Colin Sexton... I actually prefer Walker to Sexton, but I just can't bet against Sexton's competitive drive, big moment poise, and work ethic.... A lot of foolish comps of Walker will be to Shumpert, but Walker is prospect on a different level... I'd actually trade back from 8 to get both of the Clippers picks at 12 and 13 if possible. I'd take Lonnie Walker SG at 12 and Anfernee Simons PG/Combo at 13. Simons has top 3 PG/Combo guards in the league in 3 years.... defensive length, nice shot form, great to elite handle and shot creation, good court vision. Starting Lineup: PG/SG/Combo: Anfernee Simons // Jordan Clarkson, PG/SG/Combo: Lonnie Walker // Rodney Hood SF: Cedi Osman PF: Kevin Love // Jeff Green C: Larry Nance
  14. I just hope we let him leave in peace this time... What else does the guy have to do? He delivered a Championship... if he's stays here he'll never win another one... the Warriors are just too talented... it doesn't matter where he goes... the Warriors still might be too talented and good. The idea that this guy is in his 15th year is utterly insane. It's been a pleasure to watch him play the game while he was here. Will be interesting to see who we can get at 7 or 8 in the draft. That Kyrie trade was awful especially as most analytics that projected player cumulative plus/minus, schedule, and tanking motivation (non-analytic) predicted their pic would likely result in the 9th-10th overall pick... That player was not worth shipping out Kyrie. Wish we traded him to the Suns so we could have a top 4 pick...
  15. Years and years of "What a day for the Brownies... we don't know if it'll work out positively or negatively... let's wait in see"... that used to me like 60 losses and wasted drafts ago... this shell of a sports fan is all that remains... take it or leave it.. lol
  16. You just have to skip over my posts man.... live in the free and euphoric bliss of eternal positivity...
  17. Orlando Brown will be good in the RG3 and Lamar Jackson read option offense where you only have to hold the man up long enough for the read option decision... he'll be a tragedy for Joe Flacco
  18. top of the 2nd for a 1-2 year player (not saying he'd be that for sure... hopefully a lot more) ... tht would be an epic bust...
  19. More than 2 years removed from injury most evaluators still believe he lost something that he'll never get back in terms of juice and fluidity/ease of movement... I tend to agree...good player.. basically a 1st round pick is too rich a price to pay imo.... If he can stay healthy, my opinion would be it's a solid pick.. As I have no confidence that he'll stay healthy given his loose knees (hyper-extension in multiple games after routine cutting).... I don't like the pick.. here's to hoping the best for the young man and our team...
  20. Great trade for you all. Fuller a 22 year old top slot CB with boundary CB versatility and impact is a great get. He slipped in the draft due to playing poorly his final year in college due to a knee injury that turned into an ACL injury. He balled out this year after being finally healthy. Cap relief, a 22 year old ascending CB2 with CB1 star potential upside, and a 3rd round pick....I can't imagine a scenario where things could've went better via trade. Let the wild stallion that is Mahomes run free...it's going to be a wild roller coaster of celebration and frustration with Mahomes next year. All in all he needs the experience and the ups and downs will set him up to take giant step year 3.
  21. @titans0021 ; @VY : @TitanSS I really appreciate your insights and explanations. That helps me understand that which I couldn't from the outside looking in. I'll link your posts on our Browns forum as I'm sure my fellow Brownies would like to hear what you all have to say. The overabundance of tight formations and big bunch formations worry me a lot especially when TEs are the main receivers as those are slow developing plays that can easily be taken away. The idea of Mariota waiting for a 2 WR concept to come open from a tight formation seems crazy, especially when his strength skill set is more west coast and spread quick hitters and deep seam shots out of play action. inability to be flexible and adapt with personnel is a problem. We'll see if the Brownies bring him on...and if so, can he make the proper adjustments.
