Tony Romo vs Eli Manning?

And how players actually qualified statistically in the AFL each of those years?

Barely any. You ignore the fact that the AFL and NFL were split, it's the modern day equivalent of him being an AFC pro-bowl alternate because one of the people ahead of him got to the Super Bowl or was hurt. The QBs in the NFL were on average better than their AFL counterparts.

1965. 10 qualifiers
1966. 11 qualifiers
1967. 9 qualifiers
1968. 11 qualifiers.
1969. 12 qualifiers.

You can spin it any way you want, but he wasn't good. Between the AFL and NFL combined, he was an average QB at best. He threw a lot of TD in a few seasons sure. But that doesn't make you a great QB if you lead the league in picks as well. You're looking at him with a positivity bias ignoring all the mistakes he made or his shortcomings. You're ignoring the fact that he was outplayed by a large number of his peers. He wasn't a great QB by any means. Above average at best.

Now you’re just making up stuff to justify your point. No being an AFL MVP is not the equivalent of being a Pro Bowl alternate.

The fact of the matter is you didn’t watch him and you are cherry picking some stats out of context to support your view in an era you never watched. Meanwhile he was getting accolades left and right even before the Gaurantee.

Sorry man you can’t even admit he was merely top 10 in a year he got an All Pro. Clearly the more knowledgeable people that actually watched him saw something different. This argument isn’t worth it

All HOF QBs have faced adversity or mistakes by their supporting cast, but still found a way to pull out a win in the postseason. Big Ben was forced out of a playoff game at Cincinnati with a bad passing shoulder, yet returned to lead the game-winning drive. Without his clutch completions(including a fourth down conversion), there is no defensive penalties on the Bengals later which set up the clinching FG. If you look at the 8-0 SB double by Eli Manning, you'll see mistakes by his Giant teammates, but Manning still got the job done.

How many critical TD passes were dropped by Eli and Ben's receivers? How many times did their receivers fumble backwards giving the other team a free TD?

Out of 10 people in the AFL. NFL QB's at the same time were better on average. These stats don't lie. It's not cherry picked stats, it's where he ranked in passer rating with the NFL and AFL combined. it's not some sabremetrics thing I made up to prove my point. Namath wasn't all that good. People who watched him are nostalgic and biased.

Lets go with "MVP" years though.

1968. He had the 4th most touchdowns (which was pretty much middle of the pack) with just 15. Daryle Lamonica had 25 passing TDs, Bob Griese had 21 TDs, and Len Dawson had 17 all while throwing fewer interceptions than Joe Namath. Joe Namath threw the 2nd most interceptions.

in 1969 he was tied for 2nd in the league passing TDs with 19. Lamonica had 34. Joe Namath was 5th in the league in interceptions. So yes 1969 he was certainly in the discussion. I'll give you that one.

And that's in the AFL alone. He was overrated even in that small select group. He's basically Joe Flacco.

Like I said it’s not worth it. You are just arguing for the stats that support your opinion while the people who watched him clearly don’t share your opinion.

You’re opinion is a stat sheet it’s nit based off actually seeing him
