Im pretty sure Mahomes has tied the record for passing TDs to different receivers in a season.

13 different receivers have caught TDs so far for the Chiefs, tieing John Elway.

Unless I miscounted, Brees has also thrown TDs to 13 different receivers this season.

Edit:  I'm also counting 12 for Mahomes

And in 1 game, Brees threw 4 TD's to 4 different undrafted free agents, right? Thanksgiving night.
He's just surrounded by superstars!!!!

Drew Brees deserves an MVP., just not more tham Mahomes.

Drew Brees has 32 TDs this year. (Albeit with a 74% completion percentage which is likely going to break the NFL record which I think Brees already owned)

Mahomes is more than likely going to break the 50 TD mark sunday (Honestly he could push Peyton's record but 8 TDs in a single game isn't happening)

The Chiefs offense has been dynamite this year compared to the saints which has been pretty good but there's no denying Brees fell off at the end of the year (partly gameplan, partly his play)

I'd challenge you to watch the film of the game at Dallas, specifically, then subsequent games where the offense struggled. Brees' throws were on target (most of the time). He was literally hitting guys in the hands and face most of the game. So, sure, his STATS fell off, but if you actually watched the games, you'd see his players let him down. (see Trequan Smith's drop of a TD pass right to the eyes at the goal line)

Now, Brees crumbled in the 4th quarter, and if you'll look back through the myriad of post about this topic, you'll see the Brees fans pin that loss on him, even though it was just the 4th quarter that HE was bad.

That's where the big difference has come, in my opinion. Brees has only "cost" his team 1 victory, at Dallas. Whereas Mahomes, with his turnovers, has cost his team several wins. And, wins is what it's about, right? I mean, if Brees ends up 14-2 (franchise record) and Mahomes 12-4 or even 11-5, then what?

I don’t know why Chiefs fans act like it’s not a valid point to bring up Mahomes FAR superior supporting cast.

How bout we talk about the Saints o-line compared to the Swiss cheese o-line for KC who basically has one good player, in Schwartz, one meh player in Eric Fisher and a bunch of backups that have been in and out. How bout the RB spot, Saints have, probably, the best tandem in the league, we're down to our 3rd string and just had to sign a guy to be our backup that we cut long ago.

How about in 2011 when Brees was down to his 5th string running back, yet had 5476 yards and 46 TDs at 13-3. Lost the MVP to Rodgers with 4643 yards and 45 TDs at 14-1/15-1?

I think that's why there's still the argument going on about either player could make it. If we were just going off Yards & TDs, I get it. But there's more to it, apparently.

Like said (a lot), Mahomes has been a lot of fun to watch, but that's not the 100% deciding factor.

And yet somehow you’re still getting good numbers out of the run game. The Saints OL has dealt with injuries as well. Mahomes leads the league in YAC from his receivers so if we’re giving Mahomes the award based off bulk numbers why can’t we discuss how much his targets do after the catch? It seems fair, just like yes the Saints have a better OL.

Chiefs running game has averaged 4.9 YPC. Saints averaging 4.1 YPC.

And? I was responding to the fact that dude said Mahomes is playing with a "far superior" supporting cast. In the grand scheme of things I don't really care if Mahomes gets it or not, as a Chiefs fan, I'm more concerned with our lack of playoff success.

So you'd take Damien Williams over Kamara/Ingram?

And you'd take Brees getting smashed by the Defense for some extra yac?

You're moving the golaposts from what you said. You said "far superior" supporting cast.

Mahomes gets smashed? He’s been sacked 8 more times than Brees over the course of the season, and he’s gotten sacked less than most QBs in the league. His mobility certainly helps but he isn’t getting “smashed”. No way would I take Williams over Kamara/Ingram but he’s averaging 5.6 YPC. The dude is running the ball well so let’s not act like all of a sudden the Chiefs can’t run the ball.

Mahomes DOES have a far superior supporting cast. I’m not moving any goal posts. He leads the league in YAC, so let’s stop ignoring it if we’re just going to use his bulk stats are superior to Brees. It’s a fair point to make, just like Brees has had a better pass protecting OL for most of the year although I think both are fine. Chiefs fans acting like they have a bottom 5 OL is laughable.

Yup, 9 sack difference tells the entire story of an o-line. You obviously haven't watched many Chief games. I didn't say we had a bottom 5 OL but they're not good but go on ahead with your hyperbole.

5.3 yards a carry still doesn't jive with what you said. You said far superior.

This is basically my, and most other Saints fans, opinions at this point with Brees. More worried about getting to the super bowl than an MVP award.
