Yeah, it's definitely the guy who came in last - after FA, after the draft, and after the HC was hired - that is the issue here. 9_9

I honestly can't see how anyone in the locker room could have any respect for him after the whole Osemele thing. He doesn't get a pass.

And how is that reflected in the WL column? KO wasn't even starting anymore. It's a PR blunder, but I don't see how this is our biggest problem.

It may not be your biggest problem. Your biggest problem is largely multifactorial. There appears to be dysfunction on many levels. You have a GM that is making decisions that the coach doesn't agree with. You have a coach who hasn't been good. Your rookie QB has struggled most of the season. Your OL has been really bad. You have locker room/front office leaks. I question how much desire the team has to win for this organization...that Osemele situation was bad bad.

Yeah, KO and JD are the smallest of all those problems listed. Here's how I see them ranked:

1. Gase has been terrible. You can't blame the talent on the roster when you lose to a team that shipped all their talent away.

2. Team talent: OL is somehow worse than last year. No pass rush. And injuries have decimated us most of the year.

3. Sam is regressing. The first two problems could be the reason for this third one, but also could be that he's having his confidence utterly ruined.

...

4. JD bumbled the KO situation.

5. Leaks. We don't have leaks (or at least more so than anyone else). We have "reporters" who are more than happy to create rumors and controversy for tweets. That's just life with NYC media. No one except for ESPN takes Mehta or Cimini seriously.

The problem is that Douglas is also pretty much a joke.

LOL. He has yet to do anything. The Osemele situation is a one sided story, no one knows the Jets side because they aren't commenting. You only heard from Osemele what happened. Its clear that Osemele had a preexisting injury, came here and was benched for playing bad, knew he was getting cut so he went ahead and made plans to get a surgery so that he can get his money.  Its a legal matter, so the Jets can't comment and you only heard 1 side.

But that won't define Douglas as a GM. He has yet to have a offseason with the team. From all indications, Douglas is a very well respected man in the industry and was a top candidate.  He won't ignore the OL like Maccagana did. The reason why we are in the situation we are in, is years of bad drafting by Maccagnan. He ignored the OL for years, he ignored CB or made fail signings (Revis, Johnson), ignored EDGE (should have drafted Josh Allen instead of Quinnen Williams).

We are the worst in football at OL, EDGE, and CB. 3 of the most important areas. Fitzmagic lit us up cause we get no edge pressure and our CBs are absolutely awful, look at our roster.

Douglas immediately identified that we are weak at those spots, he tried to do what he could. Traded for a OG, traded for a CB, used a waiver wire pickup for EDGE. He asked for Zack Martin or Tyrone Smith for Adams, clearly he wants to improve the OL. I would be shocked if we don't draft Andrew Thomas round 1, that is who we need the most. I am tired of seeing our 22 yr old QB getting hit or pressured every play and ruining his development. A  coach who doesn't adjust and seems to just be lost. You have LeVeon Bell but throw in the redzone instead of trying to get the RB a TD.

Gase is gonna end up fired IMO, hes doing a terrible job on a terrible team. Douglas hopefully will be better at closing deals and utilizing assets on needs that are important. When we were a good team, we had a great OL, great DL, and great CBs. So we got away from that and look. The Jets current FO is yet to be defined, they haven't had a offseason.

Players go through thorough physicals whenever they're signed or traded.  So if Osemele did have a pre-existing medical injury, it's on the Jets' medical staff for not catching it.  The fact that MULTIPLE independent doctors confirmed that he needed the surgery confirms that what the Jets are doing is ridiculous.  They're looking to get out of paying the guaranteed money.

It seems the Jets medical staff knew all about this injury and so did the the front office. Osemele said he could play through it and have it taken care of in the off season. Once he started playing poorly and was benched he then decided to use the injury and surgery as leverage to get all of his money.

But as stated above, since this is now a legal matter the Jets can't tell their side.

The Jets' FO and medical staff signed off on it.  If that's indeed the case, the legal side of it from the Jets' argument just fell through the floor.

Maybe, but can you really blame the Jets for not wanting to pay him? If when they traded for him, team doctors said you're injury will need to be taken care of eventually, but if you can take the pain and play through it, it won't get worse. Osemele agrees to this and only once he's benched for poor play he decides to go back on his word and use the injury as leverage to get paid.

It's not a matter of whether or not the Jets want to pay him.  The Jets are trying to do everything they can to keep from having to pay them.  He was injured coming to the Jets, the Jets' FO signed off on that injury, and when Osemele went to get it fixed the Jets tried to keep it from happening so that they didn't have to pay him.  At best, it's a petty move by the Jets and a PR disaster.  This is one of those things that won't endear FAs to the Jets.  Very similar to Isaiah Thomas and the Celtics.

Which is far and away the worst thing about the Jets right now. Gase is our biggest problem and as it stands, may be a larger deterrent for potential FA.
