You never know with these Japanese players, you either get something great like Ichiro Suzuki, or you end up with another Daisuke Matsuzaka.

You never know with these American players, you either get something great like Kris Bryant, or you end up with another Mark Appel.

Lol, what are the odds.

I wish my Braves would sign him, but I know that's not gonna happen, its gonna be Yankees, Red Sox or Dodgers that get him I bet.

I think the Rangers and Mariners are serious contenders here too.

Or you can look at him for 8 seconds, take one radar gun reading and realize that he's nothing like Daisuke.

Plus scouting is much better and the transition is probably smoother for Japanese guys than it used to be

Remember when Cash signed Kei Igawa without even looking at him solely to counter Dice-K?

Dice-K had 12 pitches and none of them were higher than a 50.

Ohtani has three legitimate 70-80 FV pitches, his forkball is an 80 pitch right now.

I mean you can't grade a pitch like a forkball on the 20-80 scale since there is no basis here. There is no other forkball here to hold up as average or other grades on the scale.
